Musician Age Gap AU Pt 14
True to Lena's plan, while the paparazzi on site hounds them for information on Kara, the rest of the world is too taken by the new song to speculate much on who Lena's *current* beau is.
Kara proves to be little more than an escort, following Lena from event to interview to even a hospital to visit the childrens ward. Even so, Kara doesn't mind. She has no thirst for the spotlight at her age, and is content to let Lena be front and center.
At the hospital, however, as she's lurking out of sight from the press cameras (legitimate press, looking for staged candids for the hospital's future use), Kara feels a tug on the hem of her shirt. Looking down, a frail little girl trailing a tattered blanket stares up at her.
"Can you read me a story?"
Without hesitation, Kara reaches for the girl's hand, and they manage to find a relatively isolated corner to huddle in. With a skinny children's book in her hand and the little girl tucked against her side, Kara reads aloud in a low voice, doing her best not to draw attention to herself.
Her efforts are for naught. When she glances up towards the final pages of the book, Lena's gaze is locked upon her, her gaze warm with something indecipherable. Upon being caught staring, she smiles, and cocks an eyebrow to check in. Kara nods, and Lena, satisfied, returns to the gaggle of kids crowded in around her for photos.
Lena is wrangled into a standing meeting with her mother once the children are returned to their nurses and caretakers, leaving Kara to linger on the periphery. To her surprise, Jess is the first to approach.
"Hi!" Jess chirps softly. "Lena has a few friends in town, and they want to take her out tonight before we fly out tomorrow."
Kara's eyebrows lift. "Okay...."
Jess leans in conspiratorially. "My guess is she'll invite you, but by out I mean clubs, bottle service, etc."
At that, realization dawns. "Ah. Thanks for the warning."
She won't mind declining, or spending an evening alone, especially in Paris. As eager to spend as much time with Lena as possible, she's loathe to infringe on Lena's time with friends--
"I don't suppose you brought anything.... appropriate?" Jess continues. "For the club, I mean."
Kara blinks, then barks a laugh. "Hah, no."
Jess nods, grinning. "Thought as much. I can pick up a few options for you, if you'd like..."
After a moment's consideration, Kara nods, smile growing on her face. "I'd appreciate that, thank you."
"Oh, it's no trouble at all! It'll be in your room by the time you get back this evening--"
"Jess?" Kara cuts in, a thought occuring to her. "Could you also pick up some workout gear for me? And maybe... keep all of it a surprise?"
The young woman brightens. "Sure-- do you prefer looser clothes, or more form fitting."
"Tight on the bottom, loose on top, if you can mange it?"
Jess makes a note on her phone, nodding. "Got it." She winks. "We'll put the rack directly in your suite."
"Thank you, Jess, truly."
"Oh," Jess grins, "it's my pleasure."
----
Lena approaches her shortly after, head tilted with an imminent check-in. "Doing okay?"
Kara nods. "Of course. Jess has been taking good care of me."
"Good," Lena purrs. She leans against Kara's chest, kissing her languidly. "I have a question for you."
Guessing it has something to do with the information Jess had imparted early, Kara feigns curiosity. "Uh huh?"
"I'm planning to go out with some friends tonight. Would you.... want to come?"
Kara acts out a thorough consideration of the prospect. In the end, she hedges. "Can I think about it?"
Lena nods. "Of course. And no worries if you'd prefer to take advantage of the time alone. I know this week has been..."
"Wonderful," Kara fills in, bringing a smile to Lena's face.
"Yes," she agrees, "but also a lot. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to decompress."
With a nod, Kara leans in and kisses her again. "I appreciate that."
---
Lena's day continues until well into the evening, with the final interview wrapping up just before nine. Only the thought of seeing Lena in a new environment, with people who were not her mother, keeps Kara from groaning at the thought that the night was really only just beginning.
They split upon returning to the hotel penthouse, intent on refreshing with their own showers. When she steps out of the bathroom, towel wrapped around her, Kara makes her way to the rolling rack of clothes standing next to the closet.
She bypasses the workout clothes, noting only that Jess had fulfilled her request to a tee. The other half of the rack takes more consideration. Hanger after hanger displays dress after dress, all short, all glitzy. Lifting one of the hangars, Kara holds it against herself in front of the mirror, studiously regarding the figure staring back at her.
This is going to be interesting, she thinks to herself. Then she grins. No, this is going to be *fun*.
An hour later, Kara's putting on her shoes when she hears a soft knock on the door joining her suite with Lena's. "It's open," she calls.
"Hey," Lena issues quietly as she edges into the room. "Just checking in, have you made a decision about..."
Lena's words fall away as Kara rises from the edge of the bed, pulling herself up to her full height-- plus another four inch heels now strapped to her feet. Her hair is loose around her shoulders in waves that glint in the light, and her dress is short and layered with gold fringes.
Kara hasn't looked this good since college, and she feels the difference. She feels sexy, and powerful, and *thrilled* that Lena clearly sees it too.
"Oh," the younger woman breathes. Lena herself is clad in a rhinstone studded mauve dress. It comes to mid-thigh, but hugs every curve of Lena's body like a glove. Her sleek black hair is up in a high pony, the tail straight and shimmery. But her eyes are on Kara, and nothing else.
Kara slowly struts towards Lena with a sultry smile. "Does your offer still stand?"
Lena blinks, dazzled by Kara's beaded fringes. "Huh?"
Reaching out with one hand, Kara tilts Lena's chin up to meet her eyes. "Up here," she says quietly.
"Right. Sorry. Just--" Lena clears her throat. She shakes herself out of her daze. "I guess you're coming."
"If you'll have me."
Lena grins. "I'll have you right here if you'll let me..."
"I think I've been hogging you enough lately," Kara returns. "I wouldn't want to keep your friends waiting."
Even so, Kara takes Lena's hips with both hands, tugging her close enough for a kiss. Lena moans.
"Fuck 'em."
Kara chuckles. "I think that would make a bad impression."
Lena looks at her for a long moment. "You really want to meet them, don't you?"
Brow furrowing, Kara nods. "Of course." She pauses. "Is.... that okay?"
Lena's smile warms. "Yeah. It's just... new." Before Kara can ask what that means, Lena steps free, snapping her clutch shut. "Let's get out of here."
---
The club is glamorous, and clearly catering to a high end crowd. There's a cordoned area for paparazzi, allowing both photographs and unobstructive ingress to the establishment. When Kara slides out of the SUV, she's careful to immediately twitch her skirt down so as not to give the tabloids something new to talk about.
As always, she lets Lena set the pace. Lena takes her hand and leads the way into the club. Her free hand lifts towards the paparazzi as they walk the roped sidewalk to the building, in a wave or to shield her eyes or hide her face, Kara isn't sure. Before she could decide whether to do the same, the door opens to admit them, releasing a wave of music and voices from within.
When the door closes behind them, Lena takes a moment to scan the crowd. No one seems to recognize her, or, more likely, don't care. It allows Kara's gaze to catch on a tall, slender brunette at a both in the back, standing on the bench seat and waving them over.
Kara nudges Lena and points. Lena nods. "That's us!" she calls over the din. "Let's go!"
Lena tugs her through the crowd, and Kara soon finds herself watching as Lena throws her arms around the brunette. The hug is tight but brief, before Lena turns to pull Kara closer. "This is Sam!"
Sam thrusts her hand out, gripping Kara's hand firmly as she leans forward. "Kara! Nice to meet you!"
"And this is Jack!" Lena continues. "And Veronica-- who invited you?"
"Fuck you too!" Veronica returns easily. She eyes Kara up and down. "You're hot! Wanna dance?"
In an instant, Lena's arm loops through Kara's. "Sorry, taken! Bye!"
And then, Lena leads her back to the dance floor. Kara doesn't have the presence of mind to be upset at the introductions being cut short-- not with the way Lena's body soon moves against hers. Her movments aren't choreographed, but they may as well be with how quickly it melts Kara's insides.
For her own part, Kara struggles to find the beat. She eventually tries to mimic the bodies around her, but remains a half beat out of tempo until Lena gently grabs her wrists and guides Kara's hands to her hips.
It's too loud to even attempt to talk, but Lena's actions speak loudly enough. Her body moves sinuously, her hands resting atop Kara's, and with their bodies pressed together, Kara finds herself falling into step with her partner's. Soon, all that exists is the heat of Lena's body, the pulse of the heavy music, and the scent of Lena's perfume.
They dance for two songs before Lena calls a time out. They return to the booth only long enough to collect the others, before they all relocate to a second floor Kara hadn't noticed, where there's just enough air for Kara to hear herself think.
"We're gonna talk," Sam says, leaning in to murmur in her ear. "Later."
There's no malice in her voice, which prompts Kara to give an easy nod. She looks forward to knowing more about Lena's friends-- even if it means she gets a shovel talk or two.
Once they collapse in a booth, a server takes their orders for drinks and food-- for which Kara is grateful. She doubts the hunger in her belly will be sated by small bites from the bar, but it could perhaps tide her over until she and Lena returned to the hotel.
"Well," Jack says pegging Kara with a pointed look. "After that display, I think we deserve to hear how this happened." He gestures towards the pair of them, and Lena giggles.
"Kara barged into my dressing room," she delivers. Her fingers lace between Kara's under the table as she continues to relate the story of their meeting. When she finishes, Jack whistles.
"Quite the whirlwind for you then," he says to Kara. "How are you holding up?"
"Lena's been taking good care of me," Kara says with a smile. "It's been amazing to see her work."
Lena beams back at her. "You've been amazing." She shoots a look towards Jack. "Don't you dare scare her off."
"Only if you give me a dance, darling."
Lena sighs. "All right. Come on, before the food gets here."
Kara slides out of the booth for Lena to exit, and as she sidles past Lena kisses Kara's cheek. "The things I do for you."
"My hero," Kara grins. Lena isn't at all put out by the idea of dancing with her friend, and for all the warning Lena gave him, he didn't seem to be antagonistic about their relationship. She watches them go, glad that Lena has the chance to reconnect with her friends.
"Kara!" Sam calls. She waves Kara back to the table. "Come sit!"
Kara obeys, only for Veronica to slide out. "I'm going to find the restroom. You two have fun!"
Bracing herself, Kara turns to Sam-- who laughs and waves away her tension. "Relax... I'm not Lena's keeper. She's clearly into you, and you don't seem to be an asshole, so. I'm good."
"You're Sam Arias, right?" Kara asks. She hadn't been sure before in the strobing lights, but sitting so close she now recognizes the actress from some of the movies Esme likes.
Sam nods. "I'm filming in Florence right now, so I figured I'd stop by while I could. Jack has a cover shoot in Vienna, so we figured we'd make a night of it."
Warmth floods Kara's chest. She's seen how hard Lena works, and how solitary she's been since Kara met her. The fact that she has friends willing to bend their schedules to make time for her when they can speaks volumes.
"Mind if I ask you something?" Sam asks. Kara nods for her to continue. "What do you want out of this?"
Sam's not the first to wonder. The difference is that she's asked, rather than assume like Lillian has.
Kara shrugs. "Nothing Lena isn't willing to give." Sam looks at her, waiting for more. "I'm comfortable. I don't want her money, or her fame."
"Then why drop everything to go on tour with her?"
"Being with her makes me happy."
It's a simple truth, but a truth nonetheless. She can return to National City whenever she likes; Lena has placed no pressure on her to stay. But in National City, Kara's thoughts would stay with Lena, so why condemn herself to being stretched between two locations, when she has the freedom and means to simply stay?
"God, that's refreshing," Sam drawls. She takes a sip of her drink before she gives a broad smile.
"Positively saccharine," comes a dry voice from behind Kara, making her jump. She turns to find another tall brunette lurking over her shoulder. This woman's gaze, however, is far sharper than Sam's.
Sam doesn't seem all that surprised to see their visitor. "Andrea," she greets.
"Samantha."
Andrea sits on the edge of the bench, worming her way in so that Kara is forced to scooch to accommodate her.
"What's interesting," Andrea continues, "is that Lena finally found someone who has absolutely no impact on her career."
Though ostensibly that would be a good thing, the relish glinting in the woman's gaze suggests something much darker.
"Before she's chosen industry people. Singers, actors, reps and so forth. The kind of people who, if crossed, could end her career in a heartbeat. Untouchable."
Andrea leers at Kara, her smile tight and predatory. "But you... mmh."
Kara's features settle into a solemn glare, defensive. "What about me?"
"You're nothing," Andrea responds, as though it's the most obvious thing in the world. "So when you inevitably break her heart, which you absolutely will..." Andrea leans closer. "I'll be able to absolutely demolish you."
"Funny," says Lena, reaching between them to snag her drink. Her face is flushed, upper lip glistening with sweat, but her features are placid. "If only you had put that much care into our relationship *before* it ended."
Andrea blanches slightly, but her features remained solidly antagonistic. "Skimming the gutter, are you, Lena?"
"And happier than during the two years I spent with you," Lena returns smoothly. "Imagine that."
"Get lost, Rojas," Veronica drawls, approaching from the other direction. Andrea is cornered, and she knows it.
She rises stiffly. Moving to leave, she pauses at Lena's shoulders. "Lena--"
Lena scowls. "Please leave."
Andrea hesitates a moment more, but ultimately decides now was neither the time or place to push further. She leaves, and Lena watches her leave with a glower on her face, before she settles onto the bench seat next to Kara.
"Ignore whatever she said to you," Lena says stiffly.
Kara softens. "She cares about you."
"She doesn't get to," comes the sharp retort. "Not anymore."
The message is clear-- Lena does not want to discuss Andrea Rojas.
The mood lightens as Lena's friends expertly steer the conversation away from Andrea's interruption. It's not long until Lena's hackles ease, and she's once more laughing and having fun. Kara relaxes as well, accepting every one of Lena's invitations to dance.
When they leave, it's at Lena's request. Kara's surprised-- Lena's trademark energy still relatively untapped-- until Lena captures her gaze with a heady one of her own. They're on the dance floor when it happens, and Lena leans in to shout into Kara's ear.
"Wanna get out of here?!"
Kara hesitates only a moment, conscious of how Sam and Jack had crossed international borders to see Lena, before she sees Sam not too far off. The brunette's features are astute and smirking, confirming the she understands-- and approves-- exactly what Lena intends.
Before she nods, Kara turns her head to capture Lena's lips as she pulls away. She kisses Lena deeply and soundly, and when she breaks away Lena lists after her. Heavy eyes look up at her, dazed and hungry for more.
"What about your friends?"
"Sam says I've been eye-fucking you all night," Lena calls back. "I'd rather be fucking you for real." She grins. "Respectfully!"
Kara laughs, the sound lost in the music. "Uh huh," she says, mostly to herself. "Then let's go!"
Lena waves at her friends, earning cheeky grins from all three in return. Kara's surprised to see the time is already past 2am. Her blood buzzes in her veins, arousal and anticipation electrifying her nerves.
Kara enters the suv at Lena's slight push, which means when Lena climbs in she plants herself firmly in Kara's lap, hiking up her skirt to straddle Kara's thighs.
"You are so hot tonight," Lena murmurs. "I couldn't keep my eyes off you." She grins. "I wasn't the only one."
Kara blinks. She hadn't sensed anyone staring at her. Then again, she hadn't paid much attention to anyone but Lena.
"I didn't notice."
"I know," Lena purrs, leaning down. Her tongue laves across Kara's throat, before she engulfs all of her senses in a searing kiss. "So fucking hot...."
Kara glances frantically towards the front, hesitant to put on a show for anyone but Lena, but finds that the driver has already rolled up the privacy screen. Kara doubts the screen provides any amount of soundproofing, but it's enough for her to slide her hand under Lena's hitched skirt, cupping a bare ass cheek in her palm.
"Fuck," Kara groans. Her groin tightens, warming with arousal that leaks past her own thong. "Lena--"
"Let me, baby," Lena murmurs beside her ear. She suckles the column of Kara's neck, even as her hand deftly delves under Kara's dress. "I'm gonna make you feel so good..."
Expert fingers find Kara's clit and pause, pressing gently against the throbbing bud. Lena's fingers are warm, but still cooler than the heat between Kara's legs. She curses again, hips bucking ever so slightly.
"Not so fast," Lena croons. "I want you to enjoy this."
Kara's breaths are already coming hard and fast, as her higher brain functions swiftly cease to function. She grunts, pulling a smile to Lena's lips.
Long fingers slide tenderly across Kara's arousal-slicked opening, circling almost carelessly-- except Kara understands Lena knows exactly what she's doing.
"I want you to wait," Lena whispers. "Can you do that for me? Can you wait until we get to the hotel?"
Kara's teeth grind, lassoing any shred of self control she has left, even as Lena's fingers dip between her labia. She enters almost enough for Kara's walls to grip her fingers, but Lena is quick to react, withdrawing before Kara to gain any purchase.
"Answer me," Lena says.
"Y-yes," Kara stammers. "I-- I can wait-- ungh!"
A high, pitiful sound escapes from Kara's throat, wild and unexpected. She feels her cheeks tingle, and knows they would have turned a vivid red if she weren't already red from the exertion of the club.
Lena kisses her, long and slow and deep. As she does, a fingernail lightly catches on Kara's clit, making her gasp. She tastes the warm air and alcohol from Lena's breath, savoring it for a short moment before another stroke of Lena's fingers makes her huff in frustration.
"You're doing so good," Lena tells her. Her free hand strokes Kara's breast, teasing her through the dress until her nipple hardens and stands at attention. "Oh my god, Kara-- you are so beautiful..."
Kara moans plaintively. "I-- I wanna touch you... more--"
"Not yet," Lena chides. She rests their foreheads together, even as she continues her ministrations under Kara's dress. "Do you know what I'm going to do when I get you upstairs?"
Kara grunts, gasping for breath. She's on the verge of coming, and has to force her inner walls to relax lest she climax right then and there.
"I'm going lay you down on my bed," Lena continues, scissoring her fingers inside Kara and smiling sweetly when Kara squirms. "I'm going to lay you down, and then I'm going to ask you to spread your knees as far as you can. I'm going to make you stretch for me...."
Kara's thighs tense under Lena's, hungry in anticipation. Lena leans in close then, speaking low into Kara's ear.
"And then I'm going to put my mouth on you." Teeth scrape Kara's earlobe, sensitizing it for when Lena makes another pass, this time nibbling sharply. Kara throws her head back hard enough to bounce off the headrest.
"Would you like that, baby?" Lena asks, smiling languidly. "Do you want me to lick you dry? Suck on your clit until-- uh uh," comes a stern warning.
Lena withdraws her hand just before Kara climaxes. Kara gives a shuddering sigh, grateful even as she resents the sudden stillness. Her core gapes, walls flexing in search of something, anything to grip.
"You promised," Lena reminds her.
Kara nods, breathless. "S-sorry," she gasps.
"Shhhh," Lena soothes. Her hand returns, playing idly with Kara's clit. "You're doing amazing, baby."
She retracts her fingers again, less cruelly this time, and lifts them to Kara's mouth. Understanding her intent, Kara kisses Lena's slick fingertips, then parts her lips in invitation.
Lena carefully inserts her first and middle fingers, and Kara lets her tongue curl around them. The salt of her own arousal only heightens her senses further, and the pleasure in Lena's features only makes Kara want to perform perfectly, whatever Lena asks of her.
"I--I want...."
"Tell me," Lena murmurs. "Tell me what you want..."
Before Kara can find the coherence to answer, the car slows to a long stop. Lena's eyes flick up to glance out the back window. With a smile, Lena bends back down to capture Kara's lips in a soft kiss.
"You made it," she says. "We're at the hotel."
Lena wipes her damp fingers across her dress to dry them, then clasps Kara's hand and all but drags her out. If there are paparazzi waiting for them outside the building, Kara doesn't see them. She doesn't register much of anything until her dress is a pile on the floor, and Lena pushes her gently backwards. Her legs fold against the edge of the bed, and she sits with a thump.
"Lay back, baby."
Lena kneels, long ponytail spilling over one shoulder. "Let me take care of you."
And oh, does she.
Kara comes in moments, but Lena doesn't relent. She suckles Kara's clit, and licks ardently, endlessly, until Kara comes again and again.
She doesn't relent until Kara breathlessly pats somewhere near Lena's head, unsure if she actually makes contact. Nevertheless, Lena disengages and crawls over Kara, gazing down into her eyes with satisfaction and adoration.
"Worth the wait?"
Kara mutters a curse. She reaches up to snag Lena by the edge of her jaw, pulling her down to a deep, languid kiss.
"Do that again," Kara warns, "and there's no guarantee I won't explode on the spot, if that's my reward."
Lena beams.
"That was so hot. You-- Lena, I...." Suddenly, Kara's brain catches up to her. "Why are you still dressed?"
"I was a little busy..." Lena grins. Her chin is still slicked with arousal, which she wipes salaciously with her fingers.
"Fuck that," Kara growls. She fumbles for the zipper behind Lena's neck, but doesn't find one. "Off... off, off, off."
"Easy, tiger..." Lena casually reaches under her arm, and undoes the side zipper. Then Kara is treated to the sight of Lena peeling the dress up and over her head. Her boots, at least, are already off, leaving Lena utterly, delectably bare.
Lena tilts her head in a tantalyzing tease. She leans down, and the end of her ponytail tickles the hollow of Kara's throat. "How do you want me?"
"I want you so wet I could drown in you," Kara murmurs. Lena's cheeks heat in a ready flush. Carefully, Kara repositions them so that she was the one straddling Lena. She rubs the top of her thigh between Lena's legs, earning her a sweet mewling as Lena wriggles down to try and increase the pressure.
Rather than tease, Kara plants her knee in the mattress, a grounding rod for Lena to grind against.
"What do you need?" Kara asks simply.
"Drawer," Lena says breathlessly. "Under the scarf. There's a-- ngh, jeezus."
Now it's Lena's turn to be frustrated, and Kara finds that she enjoys the picture she paints. She enjoys it very much.
Kara gamely pushes off the mattress and pads over to the short dresser on the far wall. Fishing under the aforementioned scarf, she pulls out a dildo already fitted to a harness.
Lifting an eyebrow, Kara lets it dangle from her finger by one strap, shooting Lena a suspicious glance.
"Planning ahead, were we?"
Lena gives a cheesy grin. "Can never be too prepared," she teases. Her own eyebrow lifts in challenge. "Think you're up for it?"
Kara crosses back to the bed with dildo in hand. Lena returns to her back, and gazes up at Kara with eyes glazed by desire. She inhales sharply when Kara presses the shaft of the dildo between her legs.
"Tell me what you like," Kara urges, her voice low. She kisses her way up Lena's sternum, the licks the hollow of a slender throat. When she pulls back, Lena whimpers. "Tell me."
"I want you," Lena starts, her eyes hooded with want, "to hold me down, and fuck me senseless."
An all new wave of desire floods Kara, making her insides quake. She leans in close to Lena's ear, and feels her partner's breath catch.
"Challenge accepted."

idiots in love is one of the sweetest sights
the finale! if you haven't, please read she'll be the best you ever had if you let her + let him first!! thank you for taking the time to read my silly little stories :)
no warnings!
word count: 1047
opla! sanji x f! reader
“mmmm! sanji these taste amazing!!” the smile you give him can’t be helped, neither can the blush across your cheeks as you look into his eyes. there’s a proud smile on his face as he places the last strawberry on the platter in front of you.
“you flatter me darling, truly.” he pushes off the counter, moving over to the sink to wash his hands as your own steal another perfectly made chocolate covered strawberry. another satisfied ‘mmm’ leaves your lips as you take a bite. a chuckle leaves the blond’s, and he turns to look at you with a smile that makes his eyes crinkle in the way you daydream about. “is there anything else i can get you, pretty girl?”
in an attempt to mask your rapidly beating heart, you turn to look out one of the windows. while you are frantically trying to compose yourself you hear the water shut off; but you fail to hear sanji’s footsteps getting closer. his hand on your shoulder makes you jump, which gets a laugh out of him. “did i scare you? too deep in thought to pay me any mind?”
“I WANT HOT CHOCOLATE!” you blurt out loudly.
the sudden flustered shout makes him flinch, but he quickly recovers, shaking his head with another winning smile. he pauses for a moment, slowly moving a hand up to rest on your cheek. you freeze in place as he rubs his thumb over your lower lip. time seems to stop as he retreats his hand, only to return it to your face after he licks his finger and delicately wipes his thumb across your lip. his face showing an adorable amount of concentration for such a small task, tongue is even poking out slightly. after wiping away the offending chocolate, he pulls his hand back to suck on his thumb. he makes a dramatic show and “hmmm” of approval of the taste, the taste of your lips.
as quick as the moment began, its over; and he’s taking a step back with a barley hidden smirk. you’re so red you can practically feel your skin burning.
“you had some leftover on your lip my love, i couldn’t let it go to waste.”
you might pass out.
—---
sanji made sure to store away some strawberries for you, because as expected, as soon as the rest of the crew returned to the ship, they were devoured. not without plenty question as to why you got made a special desert.
“why does y/n get the professional chef all to herself when she stays back on the ship? i thought you weren’t feeling well. we should have known it was your plan all along to keep sanji to yourself.” usopp’s complaints are paired with a pointed stare that makes you feel like he knows more than he’s letting on. you stick your tongue out at the liar childishly, and he scoffs loudly. “the audacity you have is actually crazy.”
“calm down usopp, she had nothing to do with my plan to come back and keep her company. can you blame me for wanting to bring a smile to such a pretty face?” sanji walks up behind where you’re sitting at the table to place a hand on your back. he slowly rubs up and down it comfortably as he continues on, “leave my girl out of your jealous accusations.”
there’s no way to hide the way your eyes go wide when four out of six crew members are staring directly at you. sanji’s hand comes to rest on your shoulder and squeezes slightly as nami raises an eyebrow and looks at him. she crosses her arms and speaks “your girl?”
“like hell the waiter finally confessed to you y/n” zoro adds on with a scoff and crossed arms. your jaw drops so low, you’re a bit worried you might have strained it. you can’t even bring yourself to look up at the blond when you feel his body go rigid.
“it would be wise of you to shut your mouth swordfighter.” there’s a bite to sanji’s voice that you’re unfamiliar with, still, it does nothing but confirm zoro’s words.
‘he likes you?’
before the argument escalates any further, nami steps forward and turns to zoro. “let’s go guys, it seems these two need some more alone time.”
“good luck with your confession sanji!” luffy’s enthusiastic voice calls out as he’s ushered out by nami. before she closes the door behind them, she turns to offer you what feels like an apologetic head tilt. you can't really tell, nor do you care to dwell on it when sanji is standing right behind you. ‘what the fuck.’
“y/n?” sanji used your name for the first time, ever.
“sanji, do you really like me?” your turn in your chair the best you can to face him. when you look up, you’re met with a face you’d never imagined you would see on the flirtatious chef. his face was dusted with a beautiful pink blush, and his eyes were looking everywhere but you. he looked so shy. it was nothing short of adorable. he seems to take a moment to compose himself, closing his eyes and taking a deep breathe. when he breathes out he opens his eyes and holds his hands out to you. when you take his hands in your own, he pulls you up to stand with him. with a squeeze of your hands, he finally responds.
“i so much more than like you sweetheart, you have absolutely no idea.”
“i thought,” you stammer, “ i didn't think you liked me more than any of the other girls your flirt with-”
“i love you y/n, and i have for so long now. all those other girls were nothing but momentary distractions, an attempt to flush my mind of you. clearly it never worked” he smiles bashfully, squeezing your hands once again. your shoulders have never felt lighter, heart never fuller.
“i love you, sanji.” your smile is brighter than any star he’s had the pleasure of gazing at.
“can i kiss you, my love?” you unravel your hands to wrap your arms around his neck. his hands fall onto your waist like missing puzzle pieces.
“i never thought you'd ask.”

can I ask sdra2 with reader that got cheated/ or almost died by their ex
Sdra2 girls with a reader that was abused by their ex
A/n:I kinda decided to go with a mix of the two ideas you gave me
Sora
(Credit to @omori-kunster for this amazing sora banner my weird brain got bothered that she doesn't have an introduction like everyone else so I decided to use this, please let me know if you're ok with me using it)
Sora probably picked up on some habits of yours that suggested you had a troubled past with relationship, and wanting you to trust her completely asked you about it.
She was flabbergasted when you told her that your ex abused you, why would they do that to such a kind and sweet person?
If she meets your ex she will just glare at incredibly hard while mentally spouting out all of the possible insults she can think of.
"Don't worry y/n, I won't treat you like that. I love only you, and nothing will make me stop"
Kokoro mitsume
She already knew about it very early in your relationship, but she didn't want to confront you about it because she wanted you to be the one to bring it up whenever you felt ready.
She's probably one of the best people you could tell. She's a psychologist, so she probably knows how to handle similar situations. She'll make sure to show you her love more directly after that conversation to show you that she's not like your ex.
She asks you to ignore your ex if you ever meet them again. They don't deserve your time, plus engaging in conversations with them might trigger you.
"I'm very proud of you for telling me this y/n. You are very brave to open up, and I'm glad you trust me enough to do so"
Emma magorobi
Even with her acting skills, she couldn't hide how heartbroken, surprised, and pissed off she was at hearing your story, she just couldn't believe someone could do this to you.
She decided to share a bit of her traumatic past with you too, if you trusted her that much, then she should do the same.
This is one of the few times she thinks about using her influence for something like this. She'll accuse your ex of everything you told her they did on social media, hoping to get them arrested.
"I am so sorry for what happened, my love, but on the bright side, now we know we can trust each other even more"
Setsuka chiebukuro
She probably noticed when you flinched while she was hugging you, she loves being physically affectionate but she wants you to be comfortably with it first, she will sit you down and try to ask you what was wrong.
She was just so shocked that something like that happened to you, she knows people like that exist but she didn't expect you to be a victim of that. She will remind you of her love daily and will make sure to show you that she is much much better than your ex.
She might try to find out who your ex is if you don't feel like telling her, if to just satisfy her curiosity. But if you ever meet them again she will turn your head the other direction while hugging you and shooting them a death glare.
"Don't worry now. Big sis has got you, no one will hurt you again while she's with you. I love you more than you could ever imagine. Don't forget that, ok baby?"
Hibiki otonokoji
Hibiki doesn't have much experience with love so she probably didn't notice anything particularly weird about your behavior, she just thought you were shy and didn't like physical affection and it was fine with her.
When you told her that you were actually abused by your ex, she just started crying and hugging you. She blames herself for not noticing earlier, but from now on, she makes sure everyone treats you nicely, even by yelling at them if they do anything to trigger you.
She could not contain her rage if she saw your ex around. She would just scream and yell at them until she had no voice left in her, and thanks to her vocal training that's a lot of time. (She considered beating them up too but then realized she's too weak)
"I'm so sorry for not noticing earlier y/n but don't worry I will make sure no one treats you like that again you only deserve the best"
Kanade otonokoji
Your ex is so dead. As soon as she learned you had an ex, she was already planning to kill them just to make sure they didn't bother your relationship, but when she learned they actually abused you,her plans got way way more brutal.
Of course she will make sure you feel loved and protected, she'll make everything she can to make you trust her, she'd never hurt you after all, but with the people who harm you it's another story.
You'll never see your ex again because conveniently, shortly after telling kanade about them, they disappeared mysteriously, while it was a surprise it definitely wasn't an unwelcome one.
"Darling, don't worry about your ex anymore, ok? I promise they'll never hurt you again as will no one else I'll make sure of that my love"
Iroha nijiue
Iroha isn't the smartest so she'll probably mistake some of your gestures as shyness or simply inexperience like hibiki.
She cried too when she heard your experiences, she blamed herself even If she didn't do anything, you ended up being the one to comfort her but she makes sure to show you her love too especially by hugging you a lot.
She's way too shy and scared to do anything if she ever meets your ex so she will just ask you to go to another place.
"I-i'm sorry for what you've been through y/n *sniffle* I really am. B-but if it makes you feel better I love you and will never treat you like that"
Yoruko kabuya
Yoruko is pretty observant, so even if not immediately, she noticed the signs but didn't wanna be too forward so she waited for you to be ready to tell her, dropping hints that she was fine with whatever happened in your past along the way.
While she expected it to be something like this, she was still surprised at the sheer amount of abuse you went trough, she will try to comfort you the best she can and will try to be a little less tsundere and show you her love more directly.
She really doesn't want you to meet your ex again to keep you safe so if she ever sees them she will guide you away and start berating them with insults and threats.
"I feel really sorry for you y/n but at least you have me now, you're safe with me...and loved"

Last Twilight: The Gay Angst of Low Expectations
Others are going to say much better things about the romantic stuff going on in Last Twilight this week, but I want to focus on how Day seems himself relative to August. The biggest thing that stood out to me this episode is that Day sees himself in a way that reads unworthy of August.
When we saw their flashback to their time as teammates, August is annoyed with Day a lot, and Day is always apologizing for any of their failures. He then spends an entire night exhausting himself to practice more. August recognizes Day's determination and begins to treat him seriously. They begin to win. When they stumble into each other, August is understandably hurt that Day didn't tell him directly what was going on. I enjoyed the Bond Between Men that they had formed as teammates and how earnestly August insisted that he wouldn't partner with anyone else but Day. It was also clear to me by all the hand holding that August feels something for Day.
However, when August doesn't show up for their dinner, Day was willing to wait more than seven hours for August to show up. He said that August is always like this, and blames himself for thinking August would actually want to see him. He describes their partnership as an arranged marriage to win championships, one where he struggles to befriend August and regularly works to appease August's temper for them to win championships. He admits he actually did like August, but regrets not saying anything when he could still see his face.
Then, August walks up and sees Mhok about to confess something to Day, noticing the flower and running his eyes over Mhok repeatedly. He hears Day's comment about liking August, shakes his head no, and walks away.
What stands out for me here is that August knew Day would be waiting for him. What he wasn't counting on what Mhok being there and clearly being some sort of rival. It was clear to me in the locker room scene that August also feels something for Day as well. I am going to be thinking about the fact that these two were unable to tell each other how they felt all this time. I'm thinking about how August probably felt hurt that Day didn't believe in him enough to tell him directly. I think about how Day always prioritized August over himself, and didn't feel like he could stand up to August.
It brings me back to the dynamic between Andi and Jonah in Andi Mack, my favorite Disney original tv show. For the other millennials out there who watched Disney Channel growing up, Andi Mack is a show by Terri Minsky (creator of Lizzie Maguire) with similar themes as her original show. Andi, who is like Lizzie, has a thing for Jonah Beck, who is like Ethan Craft. She has been hanging around him all season and joined the Frisbee club for him. In episode 9, Andi and the girls at school stage a protest about the school's dress code for picture day by wearing prison outfits. Jonah doesn't know what's going on and insists that Andi wear the team shirt for the picture. Andi, frustrated, demands Jonah tell her what her protest is about and then she'll wear the shirt. Jonah doesn't know, and Andi is hurt by this, but steels herself for the girl issues they're trying to solve.
Later, we get this apology scene.
youtube
Please watch this in full. This is one of my favorite romantic/platonic breakups in history. I love that Andi recognizes the power she gave Jonah over her. Jonah never asked for this power, but Andi still let him use it. This scene is important because she firmly takes that power back.
What I want more than anything from Day and August is for Day to take the power he gave August back from him. August may have a huge personality and a temper, but they can't be good to each other if Day is always going to be afraid of him.
So, while I am frustrated with August for standing Day up for hours without explanation, I am going to glare at him for knowing Day would still be there waiting. I want to see them unpack this expectation that Day will always WAIT for August. If August likes Day and also knows this, it's something the both of them need to face.
I'm all about the gay angst of knowing you like him but not being sure if he likes you. I'm here for the gay angst of being unsure about changing the relationship in your Warrior's Bond forged in the fires of competition. I'm all for the gay angst of thinking you'd lost him and wanting to take the chance that presented itself again. However, I don't want Day to always put himself second behind August, especially because August, like Jonah, never asked Day to do that for him.

Chapter 18
My Sunshine
The Vibe:
Corinne Bailey Rae 11. Seasons Change
"Wanda is dead. I saw her die" Stranges says pacing away in his office. Looking absolutely ridiculous with his lounge clothes and a cloak.
"She's alive Stephen." I say exasperated
"Okay, I'll play. Let's say she's alive, which she's not. Why of all people would you go to her?" he gestures to himself, "I can help you."
"I'm not letting you anywhere near my memories thank you very much." I scoff at him, "I don't have time to bring you up to speed, I need to speak with her, and considering with what happened in Westview and your little multiverse incident, I don't know where her head is at mentally. All I'm asking is that you watch my back and be on standby" I plead
"Look I want to help you but that last thing we need is to instigate another fight with Wanda Maximoff, IF, she's even alive," Strange says. "If she's alive, I theorize she won't be happy seeing me, so no, I'm not going with you," I roll my eyes and stand up, ready to walk out, "I didn't say I wasn't going to help you," he says stopping me in my place
"Okay well, Stephen can you just spit it out some of us have shit to do," I say holding my hands out annoyed
He rolls his eyes and pulls out a display and uncovers it revealing a floating crystal ball, "This is the Orb of Agamotto. This allows me to monitor the universe and other surrounding dimensions. With the ability to 'Livestream' other planets and pinpoint magic users anywhere, except for those with the power to block its view. I can use this to watch you from a distance and if anything goes wrong, I'll portal to you and help"
I take a moment to think about it, "Fine, you have a deal" I say holding out my hand to him
He shakes my hand and smiles, "Does this mean I'm forgiven?"
"Ugh and you ruined it," I say, dropping my hand, rolling my eyes, and grabbing my sling ring, "For the record, I never really blamed you, and neither does Peter. You just happen to have an annoying face and that I can't forgive" I laugh to myself," Give me your phone" I say to Strange. He hands me his phone and I put my number in it and call myself so I have his number, "When I get there I'll call you and have you in my ear." I say putting an airpod in and giving back his phone. Pausing for a moment I take in a deep breath and exhale allowing myself to relax before opening a portal to the shuffling streets of Sokovia.
I step through turning to look at Strange, "If she's alive and as powerful as before she could easily sever my connection. Just keep that in mind." He warns. I nod my head and close the portal.
"Okay let's get this show on the road," I say to myself walking the down the city streets
----------------------
After getting some food and thinking about the next approach I decided instead of using a locator spell and exposing her safe space, I figure I'll summon her to me. So I picked the most public place I could think of.
A playground
Sitting on the bench watching the children play, I say in my head, "Wanda, I need your help" I call out to her making sure my intention is clear and that I mean no harm, "That should do the trick" I whisper to myself. I pull out my phone to call Strange, "Hey, she'll be here any minute. Can you see me?"
"You chose to bring 'The Scarlet Witch' to a playground?"
"She won't hurt the children," I say
"I once thought that too until she tried to murder America Chavez in front of me" he quips
"Yea well this time will be different Stephen," I say annoyed "Have a little hope will ya?"
He sighs, "You never told me why you need her specifically."
"I was told by my dead mother to go to her directly. She didn't say why, but I trust her judgment. Wanda may also have some info on someone else I'm looking for." I say rather quickly and annoyed
"So the short answer is you don't know," he says
"I've been on the phone with you for 2 mins and I already want to kick your ass," I say making us both laugh
"What's so funny?" I hear someone say near me, causing me to damn near jump out of my skin. It was Wanda sitting next to me in civilian clothes with her hair dripping wet.
"Good lord girl. You don't have to be so creepy" I say clutching my fake pearls
"You started It. I heard your little whispers in my ear while I was in the shower. I thought you had the drop on me." she laughs under her breath, "So why are you here? Don't you know I'm 'dead'? I'm sure Stephen told you. Right Stephen?" She asks a little louder
She knows
"Did you think I wouldn't know?" Wanda Asks
"Millie she's blocking me, I can't see you anymore," Stephen says in my ear, "I'm coming to you"
"Hold off Stephen," I say out loud, "It's okay" I pause looking at Wanda with a small smile, "Do you blame me? If I didn't come with some sort of backup, I'd be pretty dumb don't ya think?"
She looks at me for a while like she was searching for something in my face eventually looking away and letting out a large exhale, "I have been a real witch lately" she says causing me to laugh, "You said you needed my help and I could really use a distraction right now, so what can I do for you?"
"Hey, Stephen you still there?" I ask
"I'm still here. You still alive?" He asks
"Yep. I'm gonna let you go, I'm okay" I say to him
"Are you sure?"
"Mhmm, I'll text you later," I say before hanging up on him, "Let me buy you a drink. We've got a lot to talk about." I say standing up and holding out my hand to her
"One drink isn't going to cut it," She says taking my hand "Might have to buy the bar," she says making us both chuckle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wanda and I have been venting and drinking for an hour or so at this dingy little bar in the middle of town. We both are sitting in a booth in the back of the room effectively away from the other patrons.
"So," I say before throwing back another tequila shot, "So out of grief you kidnapped and brainwashed a random town in New Jersey, Created a fake husband and children, and then traveled through other universes, blindly looking for said fake children?" I ask
"Well," Wanda taking a sip of her bourbon, "I feel like you're oversimplifying it a bit. Westview wasn't a random town, Vis bought us some land there to build us a home and my children are only fake here, they're very much real elsewhere, but... essentially yes you are correct." She says finishing the drink
"Wanda," I say rubbing my head from the sudden rush I'm feeling, "That like really sucks"
"I Know right? "Oh and let's not forget Pietro, my dead twin brother," She says nonchalantly
I burst out in laughter, I couldn't help myself at her candor, "I'm sorry that was so mean" I said trying to control myself.
Surprisingly Wanda joins me, "You are fucked up, you know that?" She says laughing with me
"I know! I know! I'm sorry, it's either you laugh or you cry and I'm tired of crying" I say catching my breath from laughing
"Couldn't have said it better myself" Wanda says collecting herself from laughing with me"So enough about me and my lifetime of trauma, fill me in on what's going on; why do you need my help?"
"Can I just so show you? It will be quicker" I ask holding my hand out to her
"Is it going to hurt?" She asks hesitantly
"No. I mean no one has complained before?" I say smiling and shrugging. She places her hand in mine and I use my memory transference on her filling her in on everything; my ghost mom and her past with the darkhold, the books from Wakanda, how peter found me in the lake, and my lack of memory.
"Wow," Wanda says taking her hand back, "You've got some serious power Millie, your magic is vast." She says rubbing her hand "Unpredictable too... It's very familiar."
"Well that wasn't ominous at all," I say a little creeped out, "Can you help me?"
"Yes, I think so. We'll need an open field and it's probably going to hurt" She says standing up "Come on we should get going"
"Fine," I say standing up and throwing some cash on the bar, "But can we not skip over the whole 'it's going to hurt thing"
"I imagine being struck by lightning doesn't feel good," She says walking out
"Well Fuck" I say following her
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vibe:
Bishop Briggs - Lessons of the Fire: Official Lyric Video | Devil In Ohio | Netflix
Wanda takes me to this field on the outskirts of town. It was surrounded by overarching trees and we were in the open center. When I look up I see nothing but a full moon and stars. The air was cool and the energy surrounding us was peaceful. Wanda had set up several candles around me in a circle and stepped out leaving me alone in the center
"Explain it to me one more time, " I say a little freaked out
"You need to summon the lightning to strike you"
"Okay but why?" I say a little freaked out
"The connection you and your ancestors have with nature runs deep in your blood. Channeling the weather seems to be something engrained in your DNA, specifically thunderstorms and lightning. A storm woke you up in that lake; you were struck by lightning. I'm hoping that with almost the same conditions, it could do the same for your mind. Make sense?" She finishes
"Yes, it does, I think. I'm sorry but I am scared the last time this happened it left me with a giant scar across my body." I say unconsciously rubbing my scar, "Are you sure you can't do some kind of spell?"
"I can't. Quite frankly I'm afraid too"
"What does that mean?" I scoff
"You possess multiple forms of magic. It shouldn't be possible to have more than 2 or 3. Millie, from what I felt from your hand and what you've shown me in your memories, you seem to possess 4. I'm afraid if I go poking around in your brain that you will unconsciously retaliate and that's the last thing we want to do."
Why is she being so cautious?
"What forms do you think I possess?"
"1 being eldritch magic, which you learned from the sorcerers. Accessible by humans, eldritch magic can be properly controlled by those with highly disciplined minds who have been trained in casting spells. Your ancestor Ayesha was a sorcerer supreme, so it's only natural that you have an affinity for this form. " Wanda pauses, I can tell she's a little hesitant to continue.
"Go on it's okay, I can take it," I say trying to convince her, and myself
"The second being Dark Magic, also known as Witchcraft. An extremely powerful and difficult type of magic used by sorcerers and witches to achieve their goals through morally questionable means.
"Morally questionable means? I would never hurt anyone.." I begin to say
"You wouldn't now, but what about you before your memory loss? Who's to say you weren't a bad guy? In your memories when your mother died you were taken by a coven of witches led by Agatha. Agatha isn't exactly a good witch; she's ancient and she's evil. I wouldn't be surprised that her influence on you wasn't positive, especially considering that she's also possessed the darkhold." Wanda sighs. "She was a pain in my ass, I'll take you to her after this."
She has a point, what if my memory comes back and I still have an allegiance to her? What If I lose my feelings for my current loved ones...
"Anyways" Wanda continues pulling me back from internal panic, "Dark magic can be combined with other types of magic, which leads me into your last 2 forms, darkhold and chaos Magic. When your mother was using the darkhold while pregnant with you, a portion of its power embedded itself in you. I am almost positive that's why are you able to use magic just by mentally displaying your intent."
"I can understand why I may have dark hold magic but chaos magic feels like a stretch. Due to its very nature, chaos magic is extremely unstable and requires a massive amount of energy and control to master it; I don't feel I'm at that level. I would have noticed by now right?"
"Like me, you were born with latent magical abilities, yours coming from your ancestors. Your generational power bestowment has given you vast immeasurable strength that was the perfect breeding ground for chaos magic. Let me ask you, have you been losing your temper or lost control of your powers lately?"
"Yea I have been losing control of my powers," I say thinking back to the incident in my bedroom and outside of the royal palace in Wakanda, "I also almost killed a man yesterday. Honestly, I think I could have done it if I wasn't stopped."
"Key signs. I knew your power felt familiar, I felt the chaotic energy pulsate through your veins; You're like me. If I fuck anything up messing with your memories you could go crazy destroying everything in sight. Do you get it now?" She says to me very seriously
"I do" I pause lost in my thoughts. After a few more seconds I hear a loud beep come from my pocket. I pull out the source of the noise and realize it was my pager.
It was a new voice message from Namor, I hold it to my ear and listen, "I miss you more Ki'ichpan"
Through messages and he still makes me swoon.
Feeling a little relaxed, I take in a deep breath, "What do I need to do"
Wanda holds out her hand, "Give me your beeper and your cell so they don't get destroyed." Doing as she says I throw my things in my sling bag and hand it to her, "Okay do what you need to do, to feel as connected to the nature surrounding us"
I take off my sneakers and socks linking my feet to the grass, "Okay" I nod to her
"You can already control the basic elements correct?"
"Yes," I say
"What are the conditions needed to cause a storm?" She asks me
"Storms form when warm, moist air rises into the cold air," I respond
"Make that happen," She says plainly
I silently nod my head and close my eyes; my feet are firmly planted on the ground and my hands are open at my side. I begin to box breathe:
In 1,2,3,4
Hold 1,2,3,4
Out 1,2,3,4
Repeat
Eventually, I feel myself relax, I'm only focused on the surrounding sound of the night; the wind around me was nothing more than a breeze. I was in a total moment of zen and for a while it was quiet. After minutes of silence, the wind around me began to dance and I feel the hair on my arms stand, "It's coming I can feel it" I said as the wind begins to pick up rapidly.
I open my eyes and lift my hand to the sky calling the lighting to me. I see storm clouds forming over us almost fully blocking out the moon, nearly leaving us in total darkness if not for the candles, "Come on" I yell to the storm. For a moment it grew eerily quiet but suddenly flashes of lights began to paint the sky; it was my lightning. Just as I began to smile with pride from the storm I created, a giant bolt of lightning makes it's way down, connecting to my hand and making my whole body seize.
The pain I feel is almost indescribable; not only did my body feel like every inch of me was on fire but my head felt like my brain was boiling inside my skull. For what felt like an eternity, but in reality, it was only a matter of seconds, the pain stopped and I fell to the ground. The only thing I remember before fading away was Wanda rushing to me, "Millie Wake up" she says, "Millie don't g-", was all I hear before slipping away.
----------------------------------------------
The Vibe:
Breathe me -- sia
It's dark and quiet. I can't feel anything. I can't move.
"Mom.." I hear a males voice whisper
Who's voice is that?
I hear the voice speak again, "Mom I-" he coughs not being able to finish his sentence.
I know that voice.
"Momma I can't move" he speaks clearly before coughing and gurgling. That voice is so familiar. It's warm like the sun. The sun...
You are my sunshine
My only sunshine
You make me happy
When skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please don't take
My sunshine away
I love the sun. My son. I named him after the Sun God; the creator of the universe. He's my sunshine, my world, the center of my universe. My Amun.
"Amun!" I yell jolting up. When sitting up I instinctively grab my stomach in utter pain. Looking down I see I'm bleeding, I'm assuming a stab wound. Looking around I see I'm back at that same awful place. Kissena Park.
"Mom," Amun says
I hear my son call to me again; I snap my head in his direction and I see my son lying on the ground covered in blood, "No!" I scream crawling to him, "No, no, no"
When I reach him and scan him a little closer I can see he was stabbed like me but it must be somewhere fatal spot because he was coughing up blood, "He stabbed and knocked you out" he says in between coughs, "I tried t-to protect you but I wasn't strong enough, I'm s-sorry Mom"
"Hush now baby," I say panicked and in between tears, "I can heal you," I say holding my hand over his wound.
"You're too w-weak, you'll die," He says
"I don't care. You are my son, my life means nothing without yours. Just breathe baby" I say trying to calm him and myself down
"Momma, who is that? Sh-she looks like you" He says looking past me. I turn around and see no one.
"Amun baby no one is there," I say
"Momma she's so warm. I think- I think I'm going to go with her" Amun says to me
No.
"No baby stay with me. Don't go." I say my voice begins to shake, "Stay with me, I can fix you, Please" I beg
"It's okay momma, I'll be fine." He says before looking behind me and nodding his head.
I turn around and still see nothing, "What am I to do? How do I breathe without you?"
Amun takes my hand and squeezes it and smiles before taking his last breath. His hand relaxed in mine, and his eyes glossed over. As he took his last breath he took a part of me with him. I pull my son's body to me holding him tightly never wanting to let him go.
"Well that was dramatic" I hear a man say from behind me, "It was a shame he went down so fast, I expected more from him considering his lineage."
I gently put my boy's body down leaving a kiss on his forehead before standing up and turning around. It was the faceless man in the black suit, "Bring him back"
"Like mother, like daughter. What are you willing to trade for his life? Your mother gave me her power. What do you have to barter?"
"Take anything, my power, my life, my soul. I don't care to take it all"
"No" he responds, "Why would I bring him back? I was the one who killed him."
"Y-you attacked us?" I asked. My voice was shaking; I was filled with not only grief and sadness but an overwhelming sense of rage, "Why? We lived in peace, I have atoned for my past. How did you even find us, we were so careful for years."
"Your family has always been on my radar, But you should thank your friend Agatha, she pointed me in your direction." He smiles as my heart drops
Agatha why?...
"I knew one day eventually one of your family's descendants' power would rival mine and I just can't have that. I figure it's time to end the whole bloodline. You should take some pride that it ends with you, you are the strongest and with more time you could have been more powerful." He steps closer placing a hand on my cheek. I look at him where his eyes should be, "It'll be easier if you just surrender Millaenyia"
"All chances of me surrendering left when you Killed my son." I sneer
"So be it," he says disappointed. Before I knew it his hands were hovering at the side of my head, he was draining me of my power and my life, "Don't worry this won't take long" he says softly
I fall to the ground, no longer able to stand up. If I don't act quickly, I will die.
Maybe I should let him.
I ponder on that thought for a while and just as I was about to accept my fate the man speaks up, "Almost done, you'll soon be with your son"
My son. He killed my son.
I snap out of it, realizing I was about to let my son's murderer roam free, I quickly devise a plan.
I'm too weak to kill. But I think I have enough in me to trap him.
I look up and see the man holding his head back as he was draining me, he wasn't paying attention to my hands. I lift my hand out toward the tree behind him; I use what's left of my powers to form an opening in the tree that was big enough to hide a body within it. Once done I call to the roots and branches of the tree, willing them to slowly creep up behind the man and gently wrap around his legs and arms. He was so focused on the feeling of this newly acquired power of his, that he didn't notice he was being detained until it was too late.
"What is this?" He says seeing the branches wrapped around his hand, "What are you do-" the man says before whipping back into the tree. His arms were now behind his back being thoroughly wrapped in roots followed by the rest of his body. The only exposed part of him now was his neck up, "This won't hold me, you child"
I stand up and walk to him, "You will rot in here" I sneer before wrapping my hand around his neck quickly taking back my power and life force. "All you care about is power right?" I ask knowing the answer, "I'll take that too" I say now draining him of his energy and power, leaving just enough to keep him alive so he can rot here for the rest of days.
"Let me-" he struggles to say "Let me ou-" The roots cover the rest of him effectively muffling his words. I step back holding my hand out to the tree and use my powers to close and seal it shut. I place my hand on the tree and close my eyes:
To be Seen or Unseen.
Never in the focus of one's eye
Of nature's age, it does defy
To be Seen, or Unseen
With this spell, this tree will never age. It shall never be directly seen but it will always be here.
Once done with the small runes are now etched around the tree sealing his fate. I walk back to my Amun and look at him one last time.
I need to bury you, my love.
When I go to pick him up I see he had the journal he made of me tucked away in his jacket. Not wanting to leave the journal behind for someone to find and use, I grab it and bind it to my wrist before I pick Amun up. I walk towards the lake and will the water to separate allowing me to walk down to the center of the lake. Once I make it to the spot I place Amun down. I kiss his forward one last time, "My sweet boy" I say before I hold my hand out and use my power to have him sink into the dirt, fully burying him.
I lay beside him now, with the intention of ending my life and resting beside him for eternity. But I couldn't bring myself to do it, something was stopping me like there was someone in my ear telling me no. So, still intending on resting beside my son, I decide that if I'm too cowardly to end it now, I don't deserve to remember him in case I wake up:
Forget me not
Forget me now
Forget the past
Forget the sound
Forget the memories
Forget the love
Forget it all
Forget it now
As I finish the spell, I feel myself begin to fade away and sink to the ground. The water released and is slowly filling the lake back up; I find comfort in my last lingering memory of my son's laughter before I'm completely asleep.

The Vibe:
Labrinth & Zendaya - I'm Tired (From “Euphoria” An HBO Original Series – Lyric Video)
"Millie wake up!" That is all I hear before I feel water being poured on me.
The sudden feel of cold water all over me jolted me awake. I sit up completely dazed; my eyes were fuzzing and my ears wear slightly ringing. Eventually, the ringing faded and my eyes clear up. I look around and see Wanda sitting next to me, looking like she has seen a ghost, "Are you okay?" She asks, "Fuck you are still steaming, does that hurt? I thought the water would help," she says concerned.
"I'm okay," I say plainly.
"Are you?" she says. I look to her with expressionless eyes and nod.
My body feels numb, it's because of the lightning... No, I remember...
"Did it work? Do you remember?" She asks
"I remember everything," I say beginning to cry, "My son..." I say holding my stomach, I feel like I'm going to throw up, "Oh god my son" I say sobbing

29/NOV/20XX
sure you've noticed, but i haven't had a proper conversation with asgore in a while.
sorta hard to look the guy in the eyes for some reason.
shame?
guilt?
tori's influence?
tori in general?
can't help but feel like i'm doing something wrong by him for
nah.
i'll just blame it on the lack of one of my own eyes for today.
he's a busy monster who really tried his best to find a better time to see me; settling on about eight am.
still a bit early for me, but doable.
caught up about small stuff, and recent ventures.
in short, he's:
mayorin' it up, doing botany again on the side, and a bit of cooking okay-ishly sometimes.
"same."
"But, enough talk about me. What have you been doing, Sans?"
"same as always. fat load of nothing, with a little journalling sprinkled in."
"Journalling? Ah! Frisk had mentioned that, I believe. Is it going well?"
"it's going."
"on one hand, it is bit nice to have somewhere to jot my thoughts down at the end of the day."
"on the other hand, i'm getting real loose with what i call an entry. always tired, somehow."
"injury'll do that to you, i guess."
"I was meaning to ask about that. No offense intended, but you look a bit rougher than last I saw you."
"none taken. got a whole eye out, can't imagine it's all that pleasant to look at."
"I've gathered bits and pieces of the story from Papyrus and Undyne, but I would like to hear it from the one in question directly."
"What happened?"
"it's a lot of medical stuff. don't wanna bore you with that."
"You will not, I can assure you. It cannot be any more boring than the meetings I have to sit through."
he chuckled a little to himself at that.
"well."
"my soul.."
"decided to make a real big fuss."
"too much magic, 'parently."
"so it made a real big stink about that, and knocked a few lights out in the midst."
"Too... much?"
"yeah, don't know either. soul's being overdramatic, if you ask me."
some old rock song started from his buzzing phone, interrupting what he tried to say next.
"..Ah."
"Very sorry, Sans. I will have to cut this short. We ran out of time a little faster than I had hoped."
"no harm done. was running out of topics, anyway. unless you wanted to talk about the weather."
"seeya, fluffybuns."
"Take it easy, Sans."
"See you....?"
he waited expectantly.
"sometime."
didn't have a good answer for him.
"Sometime."
"Oh!"
remembering something, asgore dipped behind a door and reappeared with three flowers in a ribbon.
"Would you... be so kind as to give those to Toriel, for me?"
"I have not had the time to do it myself."
i looked at the flowers in my hand.
a lily of the valley, a chrysanthemum, and a zinnia. (had to look that one up.)
"...sure."
——
still have them.
they'll.. probably expire if i don't put 'em in water or something.
guess i should do that.
...
they're nice flowers.
..it'd be a shame to waste these to by letting them wilt like this.
giving these to tori feels...
like something i shouldn't do.
i should. for sure.
that's what he asked, and all.
maybe it's because i know how she'll react.
just can't bring myself to.
sorry, fluffybuns.

Little Sparrow (Chapter 10: The Phone Call)
Loki x Reader Mafia AU
When Tony Stark's little sister wakes up deep in enemy territory she assumes her life is over. She'll be killed or worse: used as a bargaining chip against her estranged brother. What happens when the mafia leader, Loki Laufeyson, offers her a deal she can't refuse? No sentiment. Only revenge. What happens when the truth is revealed? Will she betray her only family or betray the man she loves to hate? Little Sparrow is an enemies to lover's fic riddled with betrayal and spice!
Tony was seething by the time we reached the compound but I ignored him, slamming the door to my room the moment I reached it. My phone buzzed and I took it out, finding a message from Loki.
L: Please tell me you’re okay Y/n: I’m fine. How’re you and Frigga? L: We’re fine… I need to hear your voice… Are you alone? Y/n: I doubt it. My brother probably has FRIDAY keeping an eye on me L: FRIDAY, seriously? That’s his AI’s new name I chuckled to myself. Y/n: My brother always did love his acronyms L: I suppose so
There was a pause as he typed another message
L: Call me when you can… I need to hear your voice Y/n: Give me 20 minutes and I’ll find a way out L: I love you. You know that right? Y/n: Yeah
He sent a small heart and I sent one back before slipping my phone into my back pocket and slowly opening my door. Nat was standing directly outside and I sighed.
“Seriously? He has you on guard duty?”
“It’s what’s best, Y/n.” She refused to meet my eyes.
“Yeah, well, I’m going for a walk. Guess you’re following me.”
“Can’t you just stay in the compound?” She finally looked up at me.
“Nope. I’m an adult. If you’ve been ordered to follow me, go ahead. What do I care? I can’t stop you but you can’t stop me from taking a walk.” I began walking past her.
She pinched the bridge of her nose. “You’re going to call him, aren’t you?”
I paused, turning to face her. “Why do you care, Nat? Why are you working for my brother anyway?”
She chuckled. “I work for SHIELD, love. Your brother just happens to be an old friend.”
“And you do the bidding of all your old friends?”
She rolled her eyes. “Just… explain this to me, Y/n… What is it with you and this guy?”
“He’s a good friend… or was. I don’t know what he is now.”
She smiled knowingly. “What do you want him to be?”
“I don’t know that either.”
She smirked.
“Can you just let this one go, Nat? He’s worried about me and I just want to tell him I’m okay.”
“Why would he be worried? We’re your family.”
“Yeah, but… so is he.”
“And there it is.” She smiled. “Just admit you love him already.”
“Shut up.”
She chuckled. “Well, you know I have to come with you but I’ll stay far enough away you won’t even know I’m there.”
I hugged her. “Thank you, Nat!”
She stopped me before I could walk away, slipping her hand under my elbow.
“Sorry about this… but if you don’t want your brother following us… this is for the best.”
I looked down to find a tiny tracking device in her hand.
“You… Nat… That’s how you found us, isn’t it? That’s how you knew where to go… I led you right to him.”
“You didn’t know, Y/n… and we thought it’s what was best.”
I took a breath, trying not to show how angry I was.
“Thanks for telling me.”
She nodded, sticking the tracker under my doorknob and we left the compound.
***
Nat kept her word, remaining at a distance as I dialed Loki’s number.
“Y/n?” He instantly picked up.
“Loki?” I breathed a sigh of relief hearing his voice and it sounded like he did the same. “I’m so sorry they found us! I swear I didn’t know! That day Odin told you to bring me on the next sighting… they stuck a tracker to my jacket. I swear I didn’t know.” I knew I was rambling at this point but I had to explain it to him. I had to tell him the truth.
“Slow down, darling. It’s alright.” He gently shushed me. “I don’t blame you. In fact it’s technically Odin’s fault. He told me to bring you and I advised against it because I knew what they were capable of. I’ll enjoy breaking this particular news to him.”
“You’re not mad at me?”
“Darling, I could never be mad at you… especially not over something like this.” There was a brief pause before he spoke again. “Are you alright? Did they hurt you?”
“They wouldn’t hurt me, Loki… not intentionally anyway.”
“Have you seen your fiance?” he spat the word bitterly.
“No, but I’m sure he’s around somewhere. My brother’s far too proud to call off the arrangement. Seth will probably show up with some half-assed apology and a bouquet of roses or some bullshit like that.”
I could hear Loki laugh on the other end of the phone. “I suppose I know not to show up at your door with roses then.”
“If it’s you holding the roses then perhaps I wouldn’t mind.”
“Keep trying, damnit!” I heard Loki hiss to someone. “Sorry, darling, I’m still here. So if it’s me with roses… you’ll let me in?”
“I’d let you in no matter what.”
I heard Syf in the background. “We got it!”
“Loki, what’s going on over there? Is everything alright?”
“Darling, I’m afraid I haven’t been entirely honest with you.”
My eyes widened. “Loki… what’ve you done?”

Higurashi: Whole Series Overview
I started this series in January. It took me just under nine months to finish and in that time, I've become the most relevant Higurashi blog according to the Tumblr algorithm. I'm genuinely upset that it's over.
All the way back in my first post for Abducted by Demons chapter 1, I said "This is a story about repentance, forgiveness, and second chances." When I said it then, I didn't intend to repeat it as many times as I did during the second half. But it just so happens to fully encapsulate what I think this story is about.
The first half of this series is about everyone screwing up and causing horrible tragedies either directly or indirectly. The second half is instead about them overcoming those faults and working toward a better future.
Now you might think "All their actions get undone and they don't remember anything. None of the bad stuff they do actually happens so there's no point to all this forgiveness stuff since there's nothing to forgive." But that's not really true. The stuff they do each arc gets undone, but everything they've done coming into each arc and the effects those actions have on them are still there.
Even if Keiichi doesn't murder his classmates in a paranoid fit, he still assaulted a bunch of children with a toy gun and accidentally shot a girl's eye out. Even if Shion doesn't kill all the village leaders out of a misguided desire for revenge, she still resents her sister for the mixup when they were little and the village for how it treated Satoshi. Even if Rena doesn't kill people who are trying to extort her father and hold her class hostage due to suffering paranoid delusions, she still blames herself for her parents' divorce and is always afraid she'll lose everything she loves if she isn't diligent.
Each of these bad timelines are what could happen because everyone doesn't confront the worst aspects about themselves and truly strive to become better people. The question arcs are all scenarios where those negative aspects of the characters are allowed to fester and act completely unimpeded. The answer arcs meanwhile begin to address them and bring everyone together. Most importantly, the answer arcs continuously assert that what you've done in the past doesn't matter as long as you are actively trying to be a better person now.
The turning point in the entire series is in Atonement chapter 11. We've had some allusions to Keiichi's past but this chapter airs out all his dirty laundry. And we the readers might think "Oh Keiichi is not a good person after all for hiding this from us" but when he confesses to his friends, they all agree that he didn't need to tell them this because he's actively trying to be a better person because of what he's done.
Shortly after, Keiichi is flooded with the memories of what he did in Abducted by Demons. For normal people who don't truly have the power to traverse worlds, this might feel more like a premonition of what could have happened if he didn't address his personal issues or kept himself distant from his friends because of them. And this drives him to reach out to Rena and show her similarly that she has people she can go to even with what her past is.
In the final chapter of the entire series, Dice Killing chapter 6, everyone comments on the idea of a world where none of their crimes and sins happened, and they all agree that they're better off in this world because it allowed them to become better people. They still regret what they've done, and it will affect them all their lives, but it's ultimately best that they learned from them.
This series has a lot of fun with throwing supernatural and occult aspects at the reader. We start the story with a premise that there's some secret death cult running the village. Then as we keep going, we get things like the dead coming back to life, doppelgangers, death curses, and the mortal incarnation of a god.
All these different elements become a tangled mess that the reader is left to try figuring out how they come together. And in the answer arcs, we get to find what is true and what is false. And it turns out most of these supernatural elements are actually mundane coincidences or misunderstandings. In fact, Atonement seems intent on proving there isn't anything supernatural going on by introducing a new element, mind controlling alien parasites, and showing how we could mistakenly think that's a thing.
But as the story shows how some supernatural elements aren't real, it doubles down on others. As we learn that aliens, doppelgangers, and zombies are not part of this story, we're also shown that Oyashiro is real, Rika is Oyashiro's reincarnation, and they both have something to do with everything going on.
And all these strange elements were ultimately a distraction. The main point to it all is there is a conspiracy to destroy the village and Rika's death is a core aspect to it. Once all the occult mysteries are solved, we get to focus on the main plot.
Digging into a bit of what I can surmise about Ryukishi07 based on his work here, he definitely believes strongly that a person's mental wellbeing needs to factor heavily into the actual culpability of their crimes. Nomura and Okonogi are the only ones in the story who are painted as truly evil. They did everything they did with full soundness of mind. Most everything else is done by people who are repeatedly shown that they would never do what they did if they were in their right state of mind.
Massacre chapter 1 refers to a heavy-handed example of Keiichi. We're introduced to him by watching him go mad and kill his friends. But subsequent arcs show us that that behavior is very much the exception. Ultimately, every person is a very bad situation away from doing something they would never do normally.
One of the notes in the epilogue to Festival Accompanying is Irie would release a thesis on how changes to the brain affect personality and it will make people reconsider whether people should always be blamed for their actions. So part of the good ending of the story is that mental illness and wellbeing are factored into how to approach the guilt or innocence of a crime.
The ultimate shift from researching Hinamizawa Syndrome as a weapon to researching treatment and prevention is also part of that good ending.
I've gotten this far and I feel like I haven't really talked much about actual media itself. So this is a manga adaptation of a Visual Novel. The arcs were all written and released concurrently over what I'd say are three primary waves. The first wave saw Abducted by Demons, Cotton Drifting, and Curse Killing release at the same times followed by Time Killing releasing after. The second wave was Beyond Midnight, Eye Opening, and Atonement. Finally, Massacre and Festival Accompanying released together with Dice Killing releasing after.
This would really explain why manga sites at the time hosted each arc as it's own separate series since they were treated as their own separate series. When it was given an English release, the volumes were released one at a time as part of the Higurashi series rather than as their own individual series.
If she were allowed to, I bet Karin Suzuragi would have done the art for every arc. Looking at the series by release order, she was involved in the manga adaptation from start to end.
Each question-answer arc pair having its own artist really added to the sense that each arc is a different story and these are different worlds. I don't know if there were any real-world reasons for why it happened, but Hinase Momoyama adapting Massacre rather than Jiro Suzuragi reprising her artist role for it ended up being one of the best examples of how different artists made each world feel inherently different. Massacre is a world unlike every other world and it ends up looking like none of the other worlds.
And I've pointed out multiple instances of it throughout the series, but the team involved in the adaptation knew how to use the manga medium to its maximum. From page layout, to visuals, to shading; the team knew how to give the make everything have the most impact on the reader. The team LOVES the Higurashi VNs and they wanted their favorite moments to leave the same impression in manga format that they felt when reading it as a VN.
Sadly, not everything could be adapted into the manga. There are details about the world that are told to the reader of the VNs that just cannot be carried over into the manga in an effective way. If you wanted to experience both, you're better off reading the VN first and then the manga. It would have the same impact as reading your favorite book and then watching a (good) movie adaptation. Your imagination fills in the visuals as you read what happens, then you get to enjoy those vivid ideas being blown up into a beautiful visual medium.
Two of my favorite personal challenges when putting all this together was choosing a favorite panel and giving each arc a different ending type during each arc recap. I didn't intend to do them back when I started. I originally just posted my favorite panel from Abducted by Demons to emphasize Suzuragi's skill at making mudane things creepy and I came up with the different ending types to contrast Abducted by Demons and Cotton Drifting. But then I realized that both of these would be fun things to think about for each arc.
To recap, this is what I said each arc's ending was:
Abducted By Demons: Bad Ending
Cotton Drifting: Neutral Ending
Curse Killing: Evil Ending
Time Killing: Apathetic ending
Beyond Midnight: Epilogue ending
Eye Opening: Zero ending
Atonement: Trap ending
Massacre: Lead ending
Festival Accompanying: Golden ending
Dice Killing: Tarnished Gold ending
I think that's everything I have to say about this series as a whole so I'm just going to end with a few notes I either forgot to mention or changed over time.
First, I mentioned Shion wasn't a main character in Eye Opening chapter 4. I bring it up several more times as a light joke throughout the series, and I want to mention that I originally intended to be far more aggressive about that than I ultimately was. I planned to put several instances of "(and Shion)" into every mention of the group whenever Shion was with them.
I realized early on that the degree I was going to use that joke would stop getting funny and start getting mean really quickly. I stand by my statements that she's ultimately part of the secondary cast and she's not anywhere near as close to any of the main cast as they are to each other, but they still consider her a friend and she's always welcome to join club activities any time.
I also wanted to tie Beyond Midnight to a few instances of talks about the future but kind of forgot about it when those moments happened. In particular, that arc can never happen in Festival Accompanying since it hinges on Hinamizawa being a ghost town in 2004. So I'd like to know what happens to Otobe and Towada in a world where their story can never happen.
I wanted to make one or two references to Eriko (The girl who was fed to chickens in Festival Accompanying) near the end of the series but it didn't work out. When I read Festival Accompanying chapter 4, I wanted to mention her during the very last chapter of the arc by saying something like "Everyone lived happily ever after, except Eriko and all the other children from the orphanage. They died horribly." And then when Hanyu tells Rika how everyone is living their best lives in Dice Killing, I was going to mention that maybe Eriko also got to live a happy life as well.
I'm pretty sure that once or twice, I mentioned Resident Evil when talking about Tokyo's plans to use Hinamizawa Syndrome for military use. If I didn't, then I intended to and forgot. I was going to add RE1's original release as one of the things Rika can look forward to in the future and was going to joke that it was secretly inspired by Tokyo's plans to use Hinamizawa syndrome in biological warfare, but I couldn't figure out how to fit it in.
I'm working on one last thing for this series before I begin my next one. I'm putting together a post where I try to show what events happened concurrently across arcs. I'll hopefully have it done within a week.
I hope you've enjoyed this series as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Episode 9 Spoilers
So I sat on this one because I need to sort some thoughts and cool off some emotions. Let Start from the top
Ashley - So far the most consistently written. She filling that heroic role. She is making friends, keeping the peace and is the leader of her team. We should be hitting the merge soon. If she can avoid losing to the "too big of a target" trope. She should in theory make it to finals as the Heroic finalist. Let's just hope we stick to we have written already.
Alec - Alright I'm going to get a bit heated here, alright? Alright! So writers, I'm going to be talking to you directly. I'm not blaming anyone specifically, it takes a village and I understand that! But, lets not lose to flanderization. Benefit of the doubt the book thing was a poor joke trying to interject some humor into the scene. But you have written Alec so far as being very intelligent. Intelligent enough to realize shit like that make him look like a bad dad. Obviously, he isn't great since that is the crux of his divorce. But season 1 showed he was at least TRYING! With the Season 3 version showing a post divorce Alec trying to put himself back together. SO LETS NOT FUCK THIS UP! As well as using his intelligence to run the game. SO keep with the earlier writing. If he going to lose, make sure the character that beat him rise to his level, not bring Alec down to their level. But if we are going to make him win, let keep up with writing and not rest on our laurels. You several good options here, either keeping heel, making him tweener, I'm trusting you all to not mess this up. I know I'm coming in hot but I want to show that this matter to me, and hey I'm just one person and you are writing for more than one. But I just had to say my peace.
Aiden - Maybe I'm just trans bias. But like he has people to feud with. Let's pull the trigger and seem some moves already! He an underdog let him go nuts trust me it do well.
Grett - I'm warming up to her. Maybe I was wrong, maybe the Yul feud will be enough for her to win some real momentum. She very smart and if she can focus on the game and play her card right. She could be a big contender and become a tweener that people can get behind.
Gabby - Oh Gabby, Gabby, Gabby. Embracing the heel life will be fun. But to me, Gabby's biggest issue is that she can't see the big picture. She a fan favorite and she going to give some good moments. But she an attack dog being released on whoever pisses her off. Eventually she'll get routed and if she wins just with wild abandon as strategy, eh I'll be miffed that why she is here.
The drama trio: I DON"T CARE WHO BUT GET RID OF AT LEAST ONE OF THEM. YOU ARE DRAGGING THIS STORY OUT AND I'M JUST TIRED OF THE WILL THEY WON'T THEY. THEY CAN'T FUCKING COMMUNICATE, LIKE i GET IT, IT'S IN THE TROPES. BUT SEEING THREE PEOPLE BICKER ALL THE TIME AND REFUSE TO SOLVE THE ISSUE IS TIRING.
Riya & Yul: You know the drill
Elimination - Tess, was a choice. I think she is going to revive and be the one that resolves a few open plotlines. She at least is the person here with the most emotional awareness. Now it's just a question, when do you throw the revival in.

The moment I step into the family, I was blamed for being "the only child in the family." I heard clearly that they labelled me as a spoiled girl, incapable for doing chores, never touch the kitchen thingy. All without me knowing, or at least they thought I dont know the badmouth.
The elders (might) worried that I couldn't take care the husband and (future) kids well. The way they devote themselves as a housewife. The way they define "woman" using their own perspectives.
I really try to prove them wrong. I showed my will to prepare own baby food, paying attention to all nutrition. I clean their plates (even tho I really HATE this). But none are appreciated. Instead, the eyes were screaming: "whats so special? We're also doing it all back in the days?"
But did you deal everything with a thesis defense right on postpartum period? Did you face a constant struggling of attending online lecture while breastfeeding the baby? Waking up every 2 hours to a crying baby and back to school paperwork directly?
My point is, we have our own conditions. We live in a super distinct generation & environment. Why dont we just leave a negative judgement and understand the bigger picture? Or you guys are simply incapable of doing so?
Another day, the bad stereotype is growing.
I banned my kid from any overly sweet & salted snacks before they reach 2. Simply because me & husband live under diabetic family tree. Father-in-law even suffer from kidney failure resulting from a high sugar blood.
But those family trying (again) to test my patience by giving her chocolate and such. I WAS MAD. And this topic was (again) serving as an interesting mock in the family table in the same circumstances: all behind my back or at least they dont aware that I know the talk.
Today, my kid having a tantrum because she's super sleepy (skipping nap) at the very first place and refuse to go home because she saw some interesting play. I talk to her that it's already nighty night. But yea sleepy kid is ofc serving a controlled emotion. Thus she snap back on my suggestion and crying like crazy.
At home, when she's out of control, I'll put her in a secluded space, letting her finish the anger first and talk kindly after. The process is tough because sometimes people cant handle the screaming. Me—after surfing all those parenting books & reels—is super prepared. Things will okay basicly after around 3 to 5 minutes. Kid is calming herself and ready to talk.
But this time, THE WHOLE FAMILY IS OFFERING HAND and stare me with "wth your kid is crying just give them what she wants?" I keep telling them to: "it's okay just lemme handle this by myself and let her release the emotion. She'll be fine. Pls be patience." But being a super nosy elders they are, none of my words were taken. They keep "oow come here with grandma/whoever it is" as if trying to rescue my kid from my lap.
I really wish I could utter some bad words.
Of course my kid sensing a help, she screams louder. And the scream & rescue cycle could never break. In the end, it was me who was pressured to "fulfill what the kid wants."
I'm super mad. This way, she'll never stop crying madly whenever she wants something. And I have to TEACH THE EMOTION CONTROL ALL THE WAY FROM ZERO AGAIN. I decide to leave the house, sitting in the yard corner and refuse to interact with everyone. I couldn't stand longer in this.
All my head was filled with "ah, another moment to bring me down with badmouth." Another values that doesnt fit the family and me being the one to blame.
The tought also travelled to what if I just divorce, the way I dont escalate the mental pain anymore. What will happen to the kid if the parent go separated way. Giving letter to the in-laws which basicly said "please find another perfect wife for your son because I couldnt handle your behavior anymore. Maybe someone from a village, which could be easily value-driven."
The worst part is I even thinking about the suicide. But at this time, I believe that I'd better be here to protect my kid.
I really hate the badmouth tradition in this family. Everytime the siblings sat together during Raya or end-year holiday, there will be someone to mock. Be it an in-laws (1. X only come here to eat but she never do the dishes; 2. Y is a wife of a rich uncle, but she still keep and using old equipments in the house. What a stingy girl; 3. Z is soo out of control; 4. K is sooo sensitive.) or other people from a wider family tree. I hate it. Like, does it benefit you? Does talking behind people will make them change the behavior and follow your path voluntarily?
I could never understand. And please advice me how to get away from this circle.

some meme || @nghtmarish
💥⋆。˚⁀➷ IT STUNG MORE THAN IT SHOULD HAVE... He would have winced if she wasn't look directly at him. He chooses to stay silent for that very moment. NEGAN KNEW JUST HOW MUCH MAGGIE LOATHED HIM, IT CONSUMED HER VERY SOUL.... the sight of him, the air he shared with her. That hatred she held for him. Could you blame her ? He really couldn't.... he knew he took a big part away from her, and her son. He couldn't bring Glenn back no matter how badly he wished he could go back and tell OLD NEGAN not to. At the same time, he probably would have told OLD NEGAN to kill them all. They are all trying to survive after all. He was protecting his people, just like Rick and them were protecting their own. Even if that meant you had to be a sadistic asshole to get your way, SO FUCKING BE IT. They've all killed, they all have blood on their hands.... they've all lost someone. Glancing down at Maggie, eyes slightly narrowed.
He shakes his head in disagreement... yes he fucked up, yes he killed, yes he is a fucking nut-job. BUT... no matter the many killings he did, no matter the tortures... no matter how FAR HE HAS GONE.... that didn't change the fact that behind all that was a man who held a HEART that was far gone.... but still there trying to find a reason to BEAT AGAIN. Find a REASON to have BLOOD coursing through his veins, give his heart some type of FUCKING reaction. Make him feel something other than rage & loneliness ! Negan scoff's. ❝ What do you want from me, huh ? Don't yeh think this old dance of ours is gettin' out of hand... Maggie ? I get it... you FUCKING hate the shit outta me, I get that. I took away the most important person in your life. And it fuckin' sucked. You and I... we're more alike than you think. I lost someone who meant the world to me.... was... is... the reason why I'm still FIGHTING this fight. I can't take back what I did.... you don't have to forgive me. I get that. I ain't askin' you to forgive me. ❞ THE ONCE LEADER PAUSES, TONGUE DARTING TO WET HIS LIPS. He sure as hell doesn't have an issue talking, could talk for hours in fact. But his mouth feels dry when around Maggie. As much as Maggie wants to ignore it... the two of them make one hell of a badass team together. She'll deny it till the day he dies of course. She's clouded have heat, and sees nothing but red.... but Negan, he sees clearly between the two of them. They've spent some time together... NOT that Maggie wanted to but because he was part of her team on some of the missions helping them out however he could. He's just doing his part, that's it. But fuck, there is something brewing between them and Negan can't help what he fucking feels... and it's fucked up. IT IS FUCKED UP.... what this feeling is... whatever it is.... it's fucked up because he killed her husband. It should be forbidden. But he's fucking human, and his dick has feelings too. He steps closer to Maggie. Eyes never once leave her, the sound of leaves breaking underneath heavy boots. He doesn't dare close the distance between since he knew Maggie would take that moment to stab him in the neck or some shit. He ain't dumb. But he keeps her at arms length. READING the expression on her features.
❝ It's scary, ain't it ? Just how much I live in that pretty lil' heads of yours. Your on my mind too, Maggie. I don't try to think 'bout you, If I'm being honest.... you just... happen to be there. All. The. Fucking. Time. And I don't know if that's a good thing... or bad thing, for me that is. You say.... I got no heart, but that's far from the fuckin' truth. Like I said, I fucked up and I can't do shit about what past me did. But you ain't no saint either let's get that shit straight. Got it ? You and I... we are two peas in a motherfucking pod. My heart... ❞ Negan pats on his chest above where his heart should be, learning down ever so slightly, not enough to be in her face, but to tower over her. ❝... It's fuckin' there. If I didn't give a shit I wouldn't be helpin'. I would have left your ASS to the walkers along ass time ago. But I didn't, did I ? I did my part by kissin' your ass, dealin' with your lil' sly comments towards me. I dealt with all that cause hell I do fuckin' care in my own fuckin' way. We are only human, Maggie. We are only tryin' to get outta of this world ALIVE and to grow fuckin' old and die naturally. That's it. It's you and me alone right now.... I could kill you If I wanted... but I'm not gonna. I wanna see you make it out alive... because damn girl, you got some lady balls and I respect that. There's somethin' here... whether we like it or not. There is. And even with all that shitty feelings you got inside of you... you got a heart too. I know it's harden cause of what I did... but it's there. ❞

'I can't imagine seeing your kid hooked up to all those machines....'
And he hopes she'll never have to. This time when her hand reaches for his, he returns the squeeze, surprised by the unexpected comfort that comes from being heard, even if his choice to tell this story today had largely been a reluctant one.
Her question about how Katherine got away without an extensive investigation is a good one, though the answer is cruelly simple. "She lied." He answers, and he's still so bitter about it that it almost sounds like a growl. "Said she was drugged by a jealous colleague on set once or twice before his delivery, unbeknownst to her. She put out all the stops, too," He scoffs, recalling it. "Could've won an Oscar for the tears she cried when they started asking questions." But if he still holds it against her, Katherine isn't the sole bearer of his blame. He releases Yvonne's hand, shifts uneasily in his seat.
"... And I let her. I let her because even though I was angry with her, I didn't want her to lose everything. I already knew I wanted a divorce, but I thought it'd be better if I just told the court directly, privately, when the time came, and shield her from any hospital gossip that would inevitably reach the media. Of course, by the time we went to court, she'd built such a case of lies, they didn't believe me. Put it down to spite, to jealousy over her fame." There's a sarcastic sound at the back of his throat. "She found herself the most conniving, condescending piece of shit lawyer I've ever met in my life... I'll never forget his face. Could've made the devil sound like Mother Teresa."
He finally looks at his sister, listens to what she says about her new boyfriend. It's true that she hasn't been one to date around, and that Maddie's had the luxury of growing up thus far without having to fight strange men for her mother's attention. He knows she's a good mother, believes it down to his bones, but he's still afraid of the potential for ruin that loving the wrong man might bring. For her, and for Maddie, too. "Believe me, we share the same goal when it comes to your happiness. I want you to be happy." It's crystal clear, grey eyes holding her gaze with all the sincerity that he can muster.
"But to know you'll be happy – indefinitely happy – means to be sure you're signing up for the right kind of man. Otherwise, it's just sand running through an hour glass."
Everyone's happy in the beginning of a new relationship. Yvonne had once been head over heels for Théodore, too. It's the long-term potential that worries him... Knowing firsthand that sometimes, when that happiness dies, the black hole it leaves behind can consume every hint of light in its wake.
"I didn't know that part." Just like she hadn't known most of the details. Running through the timeline, her nephew's birth coincided pretty closely with the early days of her involvement with the Kings and with Jared. Whether it was everyone's preoccupation with Gideon's failing marriage that drove her to the Kings or her own infatuation that caused her to turn a blind eye, she really wasn't sure. But that didn't stop a twinge of guilt from popping up in her gut.
"I can't imagine seeing your kid hooked up to all those machines...." She reached over to give Gideon's hand another squeeze. "But, how did she get custody if he was born with drugs in his system? Isn't an investigation triggered automatically in those circumstances?" Even as she asked the question, she knew the answer. Power and money,
"I'm well aware of that, Gideon. Why do you think I haven't had a relationship since I found out I was pregnant with her?" Not that she hadn't tried. But, things always fizzled out when the men realized the reality of dating a single mother. "Félix has a daughter too. A ten year old daughter. So he gets it." Yvonne sighed and ran her hand through her hair as she finished off her beer. "I already messed Maddie's life up enough through her father. I really am trying to make sure I don't mess it up more. And part of that is by giving her a happy mother." She didn't think she needed to point out to Gideon just how unhappy Constance Rutherford was for most of her own life.

Hi, I'm sure you've probably already noticed this parallel but I'd love to know if there is any deeper meaning to it or if it is just a cool coincidence.
Billy's "death" scene directly reflects the scene from season 2 when Max threatens him to leave her and her friends alone
Both scenes occur in the final episode of the season and the s2 scene has billy lying down on the drawings of the tunnels from the upside down. Kinda cool foreshadowing (if it is) that billy would become involved in this upside down stuff in the s3.
But the scene also kind of mimics the one from s1 where eleven uses her abilities to save Mike from falling off a cliff (s1 ep6)
In both scenes Eleven and Billy say "I'm sorry", eleven follows that up by calling herself "the monster"
It's probably just a common camera angle for when a character is lying down but I thought I'd mention it anyway just incase. :)
+ sidenote: have you ever thought that Billy could be the mindflayer/demogorgon/returning as some other villain rather than a hero? The themes of time in the new season really open up a lot of possibilities
Hi! Excellent catches here!
Yes, all of these shots are related. The first pair brings forward Max's feelings of guilt toward Billy. She didn't actually hurt him in S2, just threatened to do so. And at the time, he forced her hand by behaving... you guessed it... like a monster. In the S3 shot though, she's realizing he's not a monster, but a victim. So we're seeing a journey here:
"He's a monster. I did what I had to do." > "Oh my god he's dying. He doesn't deserve this. I should've saved him."
This will definitely haunt Max in S4. She'll feel like she caused his death... even though, logically, it wasn't her fault. But guilt isn't logical, and we see that with Billy. He blames himself for what happened to his mother when, in reality, he was just a kid. He couldn't have done anything about it.
Re: the second pair of shots, we're seeing a crucial parallel between El and Billy. They both believe themselves to be monsters. El says, "The Gate. I opened it. I'm the monster." Billy expresses a similar feeling, though in fewer words: "I'm sorry."
The tragic difference is that El receives forgiveness and reconciliation. Mike tells her, "You're not a monster. You saved me," and he and Dustin welcome her into a group hug. Billy gets... nothing. El doesn't even have the chance to echo Mike's line to him (though she could have, word for word).
I think that's why so many Billy fans were gutted by his death. We picked up on the fact that he's a victim, and we felt his death was cruel. He deserves forgiveness and reconciliation too. So why didn't he get it?
Re: your sidenote, Billy coming back as a villain wouldn't make sense. Tbh I would be repulsed by it. The Duffers have made him a sympathetic character and started him on a redemption arc. To change course now and say, "Never mind lol he's gonna be evil forever," would be such bad writing I'd probably quit watching the show 🤷♀️ I want him back... but not like that!
Of course, it's possible we could get both an evil Billy and a good Billy. We've already seen that idea in S3. And that would be fine with me... as long as we get the good Billy too. Bringing him back as only a villain would send an awful message to abuse victims everywhere. Especially if they're men!

Huntmira Week Day 5/6/7: Masquerade/First Kiss/Favorite Headcanon
Intro
“Welcome one and all to the Emperor’s Coven celebration of the fast approaching day of unity! Emperor Bolos has graciously opened his home to all of you for a masquerade ball! Now come in and celebrate with us!”
Once the announcer's speech was over the gates to the Emperor’s Coven were open to the select few that had been invited to the ball. Only the most high tear residents of the Boiling Isles had been granted the honor of attending the event.
“Alright you three I want everyone to be on their best behavior, only the most elite were invited to this event so we should take advantage of this opportunity to make new connections.¨ said Odalia as she scanned the room for potential targets. ¨These masks will make things a bit more difficult but itś nothing we can't handle.¨
“You two know what you need to do right?” asked Odalia while holding on to her husband's arm to keep him from running off on his own. The man is a genius when it comes to inventing new products but he needs a bit of help when it comes to socializing. A skill that is essential to growing their business.
“Yes mother” responded the twins in unison giving her their best smiles.
“Good now go mingle” she said as she started pulling her husband along with her towards an unsuspecting group of potential clients.
While their younger sister was charged with testing and showing off Blight industry products the twins were tasked with being the faces of the company. They were meant to one day take over their mother's role as promoters of the family business. She knew that the twins were more than capable at speaking with clients and investors which is why she always kept them on the forefront during social events. They were naturally charismatic and had inherited her quick witts. One day they would be the ones running the company so it was important they build strong business relations.
Twins
“So what do you think?” asked Edric as he squinted in an attempt to survey the room. He needed glasses but he never wore them in front of others. The only times he used them was when he was home alone doing homework.
They were already drawing a lot of attention. Though this was intentional Odalia liked for all of them to stand out in these types of events. Making a lasting impression was good for business.
Emira was wearing a big beautiful off the shoulder golden gown with emerald detailings with her hair done up in a bun wearing a mask that matched her dress. Edric who was standing next to her was wearing a suit similar in design to his sisters with a matching mask. Even in a room filled with extravagant attire the two still stood out.
“You heard what mother said we have to mingle. See anyone we know?” responded Emira while she scanned the faces of the people starting to make their way to them.
“Nope I can’t tell who anyone is with all these flamboyant outfits. Want to just hit the obdurves table?”
“Amity is lucky she didn't have to come. She gets to hang out with her girlfriend while we get to mingle with business partners” mumbled Emira to herself.
“I see you’re mad you don’t get to see your boyfriend today” said Edric without thinking. Emira had still not fully forgiven him for ruining the first time she and Hunter met outside the library. “I mean uh yeah today is when you would normally go meet up with Hunter right?” he added in a panicked tone. The look on Emira’s face made him regret bringing up the subject.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve already told you we are just friends. Besides, we haven’t spoken since that day at the carnival.” noted Emira in a grim tone.
“I’m really sorry Em I really messed things up between you guys” apologized Edric feeling genuinely remorseful. Emira had helped him find a partner and he had ruined her relationship with the first boy she liked.
“Like I said there was never anything between us. Let’s just go, come on.” mumbled Emira as she started to make her way to the obvdorbes table with Edric quick behind her heels.
It was true there wasn't anything between her and the Hunter. They were just friends if you could call them that. Even though they had been spending a lot of time together for a few months now Emira was not sure how Hunter saw her. They had never spent any time together outside of the library. He never spoke about himself to her all Emira knew was that Hunter was raised by his uncle but he wouldn’t say more than that. Most of the time he acted like he didn’t want her there.
It was her own fault. She knew better. The number one rule that has been drilled into all three siblings is do not get attached. The moment you get attached to something you lose. But I had been sure it would be different with Hunter. It was different with him. They would spend the days they weren’t together sending messages to one another. Or at least they had until that day at the carnival. It had already been a week since then and Hunter had still not spoken to her. The only message he had sent her after the carnival just said one word.
“I know Ed blames himself and at first I blamed him too but I know it’s not his fault. I was the one that fantacied there was something there when there obviously wasn’t. Live and learn right? At least it ended before it started. I just wish he would have said something instead of just ghosting me. I thought that at the very least the time we had spent together would have earned me that much. Who knows maybe I’ll meet someone here? One thing's for sure next time around I won’t be making the same mistake again.” thought Emira to herself as she kept moving forward.
Hunter
"She's pretty" noted Emperor Belos from his throne to Hunter who was standing next to him.
"Huh? Who?" Question Hunter puzzled by his uncle's words. He had never heard Emperor Belos refer to anyone as pretty or even note a person’s appearance. It somehow felt wrong coming from him, especially while he was wearing his mask.
"The girl you've been staring at all evening" teased Emperor Belos who was now looking directly at him.
Hunter had never been so happy to be wearing his helmet as it shielded his burning face from his uncle. "No I wasn't… I was scanning the room for threats… yeah threats'' sputtered Hunter as he panicked at the sudden accusation. His uncle had no idea of the secret meetups he had been having with Emira over the past few months and Hunter prefered to keep it that way.
“Ah yes that young lady does certainly look very threatening.” mused Belos looking back in the direction of the. “ Is she? She’s the eldest Blight girl right? That’s her brother next to her. Hmmm looks like she doesn't have a date. You know you should ask her for a dance. That way you can put your suspicions to rest.” said Belos as he leaned in towards Hunter so only he could hear him.
Although he knew it was impossible Hunter was afraid that his uncle was able to see how red his face had become through his mask or that he could hear the beating of his heart which sounded like drums playing to him. He was at a complete loss of words at his sudden brashness. “...I … no I have to stay close incase of trouble.” managed Hunter. Belos gave a light chuckle before putting a hand on Hunter’s shoulder and giving him a slight push forward. “Go have fun, this is a celebration after all. And don’t worry about me, I think I can manage without you for the duration of a dance or two.” he jested in a warm tone.
Hunter stumbled forward before taking a look back at his uncle who was gesturing for him to go. This was not like him at all although they had never been in a situation where Hunter could actually socialize with people that were not in the coven or direct followers of Emperor Belos. It still felt wrong.
“That’s an order, go have fun.” added Emperor Belos in a more authoritative tone but Hunter could still hear the smile behind his mask. “Besides, we need someone that represents me to interact with our guests. Who better than my right hand man?” he added in a more relaxed tone.
Hunter took in his uncle's words before responding “Yes Emperor Belos”as he gave a bow in the direction of his uncle. He then turned around and started making his way through the crowd in the direction of Emira.
Twins
Edric noticed him first. It was the Golden Guard making his way straight to them ignoring everyone that tried to make conversation with him. “He must be mad,” whispered Edric to his sister.
“Who?” said Emira looking around for the source of her brother's concern but it did not take her long to realize who it was.
“Hey Ed, did you do something to the Golden Guard without telling me?’ asked Emira while raising an eyebrow at her brother.
“I was going to ask you the same thing” responded Edric. “What do you think he wants?”
“He probably wants to talk business since the Emperor practically owns Blight Industries now. Although that doesn’t explain why he would want to talk to us.” pondered Emira.
“Maybe he would rather talk to us than mom.” offered Edric.
“Well mom did say to mingle. Who knows maybe we can get on his good side?” replied Emira
Before Edric could respond the golden guard was already standing only a few feet from them. Just standing there staring in their general direction. Or at least they assumed he was it was hard to tell with his helmet on.
Hunter
“Ask her for a dance” he says, like it's that easy. Mumbled Hunter to himself. She doesn’t know I’m the golden guard, she'll probably think I’m just some creep. Not like it would be easier for Hunter to ask her for a dance. They hadn’t spoken since the carnival. When he came back to the castle that day he had been informed about the ball his uncle was throwing. Ever since then he had been extremely busy with managing the event. He hadn’t even had time to respond to her messages. The last message he sent to her just said busy. She probably hates him now.
Pl”us I’d never asked someone for a dance before and this was Emira. At least as the golden guard she wouldn’t be able to see his reactions to her teasing.” thought Hunter to himself as he continued to make his way through the crowd. “What am I supposed to say? Hey Em it’s me Hunter wanna dance? Oh this yeah I’m the Golden Guard. Yeah, the same Golden Guard that threatens your parents no big deal.” Scoffed Hunter to himself. He allowed himself to look back at Emperor Belos. He wasn’t surprised to see his uncle was watching him make his way to the twins.
“Right I was given an order and I have to follow it through. Maybe Emira doesn’t need to know who I am. That way I still get to follow my orders and she won't hate me as much” tried to bargain Hunter “...she’ll find out eventually though.” He was so deep in thought that he hadn’t realized he was already standing just a few feet from the twins. He took a deep breath to steady his nerves before taking a step forward “Here goes everything” thought Hunter to himself.
Twins
“Smile Ed,” whispered Emira to her brother who was getting more and more uncomfortable with the man standing before them. The Golden Guard stood there for an uncomfortable amount of time just staring at them or at least looking in their general direction; it was hard to tell with his mask on.
“Hey are you o…” before Edric could finish the Golden Guard took a step towards them which caused Edric to stop speaking.
Both twins bowed before the Golden Guard but when they lifted their heads they were surprised to see his hand was outstretched towards them.
Hunter cleared his throat before asking “Could I have this dance?”
The twins were momentarily dumbfounded. Did the Golden Guard just ask for a dance? He was directing his question at Emira but before she could respond Edric stepped forward and took the Golden Guard’s hand.
“Oh I thought you’d never ask.” said Edric as he feigned bashfulness. This was not the first creep that had set their sights on his sister and it wouldn’t be the last. This guy had muscled his way into their families business. Their parents had been on edge ever since their interaction with him. Golden Guard be damned there was no way Ed would allow him near his sister.
“Uhh I uh” Hunter was compleatly taken off guard by Edrics advance. Not to mention the sudden shift in his demeanor. Even though they had only met once before Ed had come across as a kind, warm, and childish individual. His words and actions did not match his eyes; the person in front of him had no warmth in his eyes. I wouldn't have thought he could be so assertive. “That makes sense after what you did to their parents,” thought Hunter to himself.
“That’s enough Ed” said Emira while placing a hand on her brother’s shoulder. “Besides I believe he was asking me, right?” she noted with a smile while giving Hunter a wink.
“I uh yes ...um” Hunter felt his face get hot and once again was grateful for his helmet concealing his face.
“Em are you sure” whispered Edric to his sister while shooting a glare at Hunter.
“Yeah it’s ok I can handle this besides it’s just one dance. Why don’t you go find mom and dad? I’ll meet up with you guys after ok.” she whispered back trying to sooth her twin.
“...Ok” said Edric before shooting one last cold glance at Hunter and walking away to find their parents.
Blights
“...Isn't that right Honey '' gushed Odalia who was speaking with one of Blight Industries frequent customers about a potential new product. “Honey?”
Alador’s attention was completely enthralled by something off in the distance. “Alador?” puzzled Odalia as she began to worry.
“Dear is that our daughter dancing with the Golden Guard?” queried Alador who was squinting his eyes in an attempt to get a better view. Just like his son he also needed glasses but Odalia had given up on trying to get him new ones since he always broke or lost them. Now his goggles were his only glasses which he never remembered to use when he was not working on a project.
“What?! Where?!” asked Odlia while searching the dance floor for their daughter. Emira was not hard to find due to the extravagant dress. Not to mention people were giving the couple a bit more space given that her daughter's partner was indeed the Golden Guard. Odalia had made it a point of getting the twins the most extravagant attire she could find. It was important to make lasting impressions. Although she never thought that would earn this type of attention.
Odalia let out a slight gasp when she saw her eldest daughter dancing with Emperor Belos' right hand man. “Where's Edric?” breathed Odalia while she looked for her baby boy. There was no way Edric would have left his sister with the Golden Guard and she knew it. He had always been protective of her which means he might have done something reckless.
“I’m right here mother” grumbled Edric who was still staring daggers at his sister's dance partner from behind his parents.
“Oh dear, come tell us what happened,” whispered Odalia to her disgruntled son, making note that he did not have a scratch on him. That was a good sign.
“He just approached us and asked Em to dance, I tried stopping it but Em said she could handle it,” mumbled Edric who was still unsettled by the situation.
Odalia let out a sigh of relief and straightened herself. “Don’t worry dear, your sister can handle this, she's a very smart and resourceful girl. Before the night is over she’ll have the Golden Guard eating from the palm of her hand.” bragged Odalia while giving her son what she thought looked like a reassuring smile but was more self satisfying than anything. If Emira said she could handle it then Odalia was sure her daughter already had a plan in mind. Out of her children Emira had sertently been the one to have inherited her cunning.
“This could be a great opportunity for us,” added Alador who was still squinting at the dance floor.
“Yes indeed” noted Odalia who was already thinking of all the benefits that could come out of this.
Edric on the other hand was not convinced and he still wanted to get Emira away from that guy as soon as possible.
Hunter
“Step one two three.. Step one two three.. don’t step on her feet.” thought Hunter to himself as he tried to keep his cool. “Focus Hunter it’s just one dance you can do this just don’t look at her eyes. And remember you have the advantage since she can’t see your face. Yeah but you can see hers. Oh titan, how is she so calm?”
After a while of dancing Emira finally said “So you’re the Golden Guard?” she mused while giving him a mischievous smile.
Hunter had been spending all of his concentration dancing that he flinched when she spoke. “I um yes” he stammered before clearing his throat and saying it again this time with more confidence “Yes I am.”
“Who would have thought that nerdy boy I met at the library was actually Emperor Belos' right hand man,” wondered Emira to herself as she kept on dancing without any hesitation.
“Yeah… wait what? I... uh no don’t know what you mean,” faltered Hunter before finally giving up. “What gave it away?” he whispered, getting ready for the backlash that was sure to come.
“Your voice, I knew as soon as you asked me to dance. Did you really think I wouldn't be able to tell it was you?” she asked with a smile genuinely amused. “I will say that I was taken off guard at first. Not that you were the Golden Guard but that you were actually asking me to dance.”
Upon hearing this Hunter felt a huge weight lift off his chest and he felt his body relax. He had been so afraid of losing his best friend he never even stopped to think that no matter what she would always accept him for him.
“I’m sorry Em…” he started but was cut off by Emira who had leaned in to kiss him. Or at least she kissed his helmet where his lips would be.
“Curse this stupid helmet” thought Hunter to himself. He tried to speak but the only thing that came out was something that sounded like a whimper rather than words.
Emira giggled to herself while trying to hide her smile behind her hand. “Was she blushing?” thought Hunter.
“That was a lovely dance. We should do this again sometime but maybe next time lose the helmet? She said as she pulled away from him. “See you around Hunter.” she said as she started walking with that same smile on her face.
“What just happened? Did she just kiss him? Why did she kiss him? And why was he wearing this stupid helmet?!” thought Hunter to himself as his brain scrambled to make sense of what just happened.
It wasn’t until now that Hunter realized that the song they had been dancing to had long since ended.
Blights
As soon as Emira reached her family her mother quickly pulled her into a hug.
“You did good, dear” said Alador in his usual monotone voice.
“Way to go you just made that boy fall head over heels for you.” added Odalia in an excited tone.
She knew that her parents ment the remarks in terms of a business achievement but Emira could not help but smile at the thought of them praising her for dancing with the boy she liked.
“Thanks,” she said with a smile that brightened up her face.
The only one that was not in high spirits was Edric who could not believe what had just happened but before he could confront his sister Emira took him by the arm and pulled him away.
“We’re going to get some punch ok?” said Emria to her parents as she pulled her brother along.
“Alright have fun,” said Odaia before quickly turning around to speak with the crowd of people that had gathered around them. Having their daughter dance with the Golden Guard had definitely gotten them some attention.
Hunter
As soon as he gathered his bearings Hunter made his way back to Emperor Belos' side. And although he could not see his face he got the feeling that his uncle was grinning at him. But before he could reach him he was approached by Kikimora.
“How unsightly to have the Golden Guard walking around with lipstick on his helmet. You are supposed to be a representation of Emperor Belos yet look at you. Walking around like a love struck boy. You could hardly stay on your feet after that girl kissed you. How embarrassing.” sneered Kikimora low enough so that only Hunter could hear her.
“What lipstick?” thought Hunter to himself before the sudden realization dawned on him. Instead of heading back to his uncle he took a turn to go to a part of the castle that was sealed off for the rest of the party. Once he was out of sight he took off his helmet to inspect it and sure enough there it was. Emira’s lipstick from where she had kissed him. His face turned a deep crimson color when he realized he had been walking around like that on top of the realization that he had not imagined it she had kissed him.
He made up his mind, without putting his helmet back on he headed to his room to change.
Twins
“Em, wait, what’s going on? And why did you kiss that guy?” demanded Edric, digging in his heels so that his sister couldn't pull him anymore.
“Calm down Ed I just want to get somewhere we can talk without being interrupted ok?” said Emira who was still smiling.
“Fine, how about over there behind the stairs?” sighted Edric as he pointed to a set of stairs not far from them.
“That’s perfect” said Emira as she started making her way to them with her brother walking next to her.
As soon as they arrived Edric quickly started again but was silenced by Emira who had placed her hand over his mouth.
“I know what you’re going to say but wait and listen to me first. That was Hunter.” noted Emira before removing her hand from her brother's face.
Edric was in a brief state of shock unable to comprehend what his sister had just said. “Wait Hunter? Like your Hunter?” he asked, still not believing what his sister had said.
“Yup he’s the Golden Guard,” added Emira with a small smile.
“You knew? And you didn’t tell me? Em I was so scared” muttered Edric “Did you not tell me because of what happened at the carnival.” he whispered, sounding hurt.
“No Ed it’s not like that. I didn’t know either, I just found out too. You know I tell you everything.” she said, giving him a reassuring smile.
Edric returned his sister's smile before asking “So did he confess his undying love for you?”
Before Emira could respond Ed spun her around so she could see Hunter, not the Golden Guard, making his way towards them. He was wearing a white suit with a golden shirt and a mask that only covered his eyes.
“Ready for round two?” he said before stepping forward to greet Hunter. After they exchanged some words Emira could not make out Hunter continued making his way to her whild Ed used his magic to make sure nobody else could see the pair.
“Hey Em,” said Hunter, who was looking at the floor in a futile attempt to hide his face so she couldn't see him blushing.
“Hey,” she responded, trying to keep her normal composure.
“Um… you said you wanted to try a dance without the helmet right? So.. would you… like to dance with me.” said Hunter who had his hand outstretched towards her and whose face was the deepest shade of crimson color she had ever seen.
“Of course” said Emira while taking his hand.
The song that was playing was a slow song and it gave them time to talk. Once that song was over they kept on dancing to the next ones and catching up on everything they had not spoken about in the past week. How busy Hunter had been and how he was afraid that she might be angry at him to which Emira confessed she thought Hunter no longer wanted to be her friend.
Hunter had not realized he had made her sad. He always assumed she would be mad at him but it neve occurred to him that he would hurt her. She was the one person in the world he would never want to hurt. It must have been the sadness in her eyes which were always so full of joy and playfulness that made him lose his sense of reason. Before he knew what he was doing his lips were already pressed against hers.
When he pulled away he was ready to apologize for kissing her so suddenly but then she kissed him back.
When she pulled away Hunter could see her face. She was blushing and had a smile that lit up the entire room “I really missed you,” she said.
At seeing her face and hearing those words Hunter's heart skipped a beat. Nobody has ever said they missed him.
"I missed you too," he replied, returning her smile.

only shallow (haikyuu!! band au)
chapter 1: first impressions wc: 1.5k synopsis: yachi hitoka joins a band. envy and tinnitus ensues. masterlist an: literally just a passion project of mine i'm working on to pass the time. a lot of call outs to my favourite bands will come sooner or later. self indulgent? entirely so. do i care? yes but pretend i don't
read under the cut!
This was it. She could hear the band from the outside of the house; a consistent, yet disorganised stream of music thumping against her ears, growing louder as she steps closer to the front door.
"Yachi, you can do this!" The blonde girl tells herself. The cocoons of nervousness in her stomach kept at bay for the past week, had finally emerged as butterflies. She'd never met these people in real life, spare talking to the drummer on the phone, and a million possibilities swan through her mind.
Would they like her? Will she be good enough for them? Was this a ruse for a money laundering scheme, or worse a sight for a potential kidnapping? She had work in just under half an hour, and being kidnapped was not factored in to her schedule.
Trying to shake the intrusive thoughts off her mind she knocks on the door. The music continued. Okay. They just didn't hear her. She takes a deep breath, and knocks again, louder this time.
"Oh shit I think that's her!" a voice behind the wall exclaims and the music stops. Thirty seconds later and the door opens with a boy just taller than her popping his head through. "Yachi?"
She nods as he unlocks the screen door in front of her, "Come on through, we usuallly practice in Tsuki's garage. It's just down the hallway!"
His eagerness and enthusiasm prompts Yachi to recognise him as the one who had taken her call. To be honest, she still didn't know what had come over her when she decided to answer the ad. It was just so happened that one night, while she was on the closing shift, she spotted it. It was hand written, stuck on the community notice board snuggled in a spot beneath the lost pets and above the second hand cars.
Looking for a bandmate to jam with :) Musical experience is preferred. We're looking to make it big, so commitment is key. If you're interested call the number below:
Yachi did have musical experience, although it was more polished than the DIY vibes she got from the advertisement. Learning piano, at the request of her mother, for twelve years did come in handy on rare occasions. She hadn't played in front of an audience since her first year in high school, so she didn't have the performance skills for a live band. But on the other hand, she thought, the years of lessons and sore fingers had to account for something, even if it was just playing chords on a keyboard. This wasn't like the proper, school recitals. This was a band. Where she'd have creative freedom and make friends and jam out.
Her life was at a stalemate at this point in time, the hope of university was still there, although Yachi had to first endure the drudgery of work. Joining a band would bring some flavour to her routine, and encourage her to get out and talk to people; people who weren't her co workers or entitled customers. With this in mind, Yachi pulled one of the numbers off and placed it in the pocket of her apron.
Which led her here. In someone's garage, staring at a bunch of boys she'd never met in her life. The butterflies were going crazy by now, and she was trying her very best to stop the word vomit from coming up.
"Everyone, this is Yachi, she answered the ad," the ginger announces, the enthusiasm in his voice ever present. "I'll introduce you to the guys first! The one who looks really scary is Kageyama, he plays guitar and is a super genius."
Yachi spots a black haired boy with a stern look on his face and her knees nearly give way.
"...The tall guy is Tsukishima and he plays bass. Don't worry if he's mean, he's like that with everybody."
Tsukki nods at Yachi.
The ginger boy then points to the person checking cables, "That's Tadashi, he's our vocalist and sometimes plays tambourine."
Tadashi pauses his work to wave at Yachi. She meekly waves back.
"And the best for last," he gestures to himself. "I'm Hinata and I'm the drummer!"
Yachi gulps. They looked so sophisticated, and so scary, something she couldn't pull off in a million years. "Hi everyone," she murmurs softly, failing to meet anyone's eyes.
"What instrument do you play?" Kageyama asks, failing to recognise her nervous demeanour.
"Oh um, I used to play piano, and I know that piano players aren't really needed in bands a lot but I figured I could play keyboards or help out with musical composition." The word vomit had started, she knew it wouldn't help her case but she continued anyway, "You guys don't have to let me be in your band if you think I'm too bad at it or anything..."
Kageyama cuts her off, "You play piano?"
Yachi nods.
He looks at Hinata, a pissed off expression on his face. "Hinata, we needed another guitarist."
Guitarist???
"S-s-sorry Kageyama I forgot to put that on the ad."
"Shoegaze bands don't need pianists. The guitars are the most important part. Does she even know what shoegaze is?"
She didn't. Yachi's heart sinks, the nervousness replaced with the sting of disappointment. As Kageyama and Hinata bicker, the two trying to pin the blame on eachother. Yachi decides to make her way out of the house before the tears well up. Figuring there was no point sticking around if she wasn't wanted.
A voice perks up. "You know, Yachi was the only person who answered the ad. If we dismiss her abilities entirely we could be missing out on a chance to strengthen our instrumentation."
The two are silenced. Yachi stops, turning her head back in surprise, to see Tsukki with arms folded.
He continues, "Going the purist route like Kageyama here will only make us run of the mill copycats. If we don't somehow innovate the sound we'll be forgettable. I think someone classically trained could be an asset and could push our music in a different different."
"See Kageyama?" Hinata exclaims. "She'll be great! What do you think Tadashi?"
The brown haired boy- was that a tint of green?- shrugs. "I can fill in as a second guitarist if Kageyama really wants it. I don't see why Yachi shouldn't be in the band."
He turns to Kageyama, who has been quiet since Tsukki initially spoke up. He stares at Yachi directly, his unreadable gaze making her tremble. He breaks it and addresses Tsukki, "You're right." More silence. "We'll trial her, and if she fits she can join us permanently. We can't guarantee she'll mesh well with our sound just yet."
A sigh of relief escapes her. She was in! Well, not in just yet, but they were willing to give her a shot! "Thank you so very much you guys for letting me join. I'll try my best, I promise. Thank you thank you thank you!"
Hinata pats on her the back. "That's totally alright Yachi! It'll be awesome with you around, I'm sure you'll do great. Right guys?"
Tadashi gives a thumbs up, Kageyama's face remains unchanged and Tsuki shrugs.
"Once again thanks," Yachi smiles, her shoulders loosening up and breathing a small smile of relief. She turns to walk out the door, calling behind her, "Please text me when you guys are practicing next!"
"Are you leaving already?" Hinata pouts. "We can't hear you play."
"Oh I'm super sorry!" Yachi says, flustered once more. "I just have work. Next time I promise I'll bring my keyboard and jam out with you guys. I swear!....Ahhh!"
Kageyama's hand is on her shoulder. He hands her a torn piece of paper, covered with his handwritten scrawl. "I made a list of shoegaze albums. Listen to these. They're important."
"Uhh.. thank you." She pockets the piece of paper and then turns around to wave at her newly found band mates, "See you guys!"
Finally out of the garage, and making her way towards the store, she reads the list Kageyama has given her. Yachi could almost admire his passion for the genre; quite a few albums were listed with hasty notes detailing the important aspects she should look out for, but the stench of elitism he exuded kept her from fully acknowledging his prowess.
She had no idea how she'd find the time to listen to the extensive list of music he'd given her before their next rehearsal. She spent the majority of her time working and her manager barely let her play her own music in the store, instead subjecting her to repeated listens of Green Day. Regardless, Yachi thinks to herself, she needs to listen to this. It was essential to keeping her on Kageyama's good side, improving her chances to be included in the band as a worthy musician.
Her eyes glance at the album listed first. It is circled, and the title written over at least five times to give the impression it's bolded. Beside it: "MOST IMPORTANT- IF YOUR (Yachi cringes slightly) GOING TO LISTEN TO ONLY ONE, PICK THIS ONE!!!!"
"Loveless," she whispers the title to herself, grabbing her phone to look up the album. "Let's go."
